I thought Dr. Gomez was a super dentist who took time to explain everything. However, during the cleaning of my son's teeth, Dr. Gomez's hygienist made the mistake of breaking off my son's permanent retainer. The hygienist and the receptionist said that Dr. Gomez would put it back on without charge. While there to have my wife's teeth cleaned, it was rather disturbing to have Dr. Gomez come out and explain that he could reattach the retainer, but would charge for a 2-tooth anchor rather than the 6-tooth anchor my son had. The 2-tooth anchor is preferable, because it allows flossing. Anyway, Dr. Gomez told us that he would charge for the 2-tooth anchor. This angered my wife because we would have to pay for their mistake.
And honestly, when I think about it, I believe the Dr. should have been anxious to reattach WITHOUT charge. The hygienist should have been more careful so as not to cause the anchors to break off. There was no admission that it was their mistake. My son has frequently had his teeth cleaned in other places and the retainer was never an issue.
We don't doubt for a minute that the hygienist is excellent; however, we should NOT have been asked to pay for her mistake...she should have been more careful.
