My husband had some dental work done here including a filling on a back tooth. They did not ask his preference to silver or the tooth colored filling and used the tooth colored. Our insurance carrier, Delta Dental does not cover that tooth colored filling on the BACK teeth. They do cover it for front teeth. It makes sense because no body can see the back teeth so why use the more expensive filling? My point is they should have asked my husbands preference and told him the cost differential. They didn't and now we have to pay the difference. I just think patients should have a option rather than them just using the most expensive without the patients knowledge. I am sure they also know that the insurance companys usually don't cover this as a silver would have been. Just be aware and check first is my advice!
