I have a nose piercing as well as a tongue piercing. Out of respect, I of course took out my piercings before visiting, but my nose ring was seen on the x-ray and you can see that my tongue is pierced. In front of my father, Dr Ryan told me that he was disgusted with the piercings, and that if he were my father he would never let me get pierced. He went on about how gross my piercings were, and continued to show his disapproval to my father and I for what felt like about 10 minutes until I had to seriously put my foot down and tell him that he was not acting professionally. I felt that Dr. Ryan was bring judgemental to not just me but to my father as well.
I made the decision to continue with the procedure and ignore what happened during the consultation because my teeeh were bothering me so much. It was not a good experience. Dr. Ryan continually argued with his assistant, telling her she wasn't doing anything right, while she (thankfully) comforted me throughout the times when he got upset at me so many times when my mouth apparently just wasn't open enough even though there were so many wedges keeping it open. I was also choked on water and wasn't allowed to get up and swallow, instead he pushed my head down against the chair.
