Had to have 4 wisdom teeth removed, went to Dr. Prinsell. The initial consultation with Dr. Prinsell was wonderful. He and his staff made me feel very comfortable. Cut to surgery day...I woke up in the middle of surgery - in extreme pain. I remember trying to talk, and moving my hands to get the doctor and staff away from me. Then I heard a staff member say, "she's awake, she's awake" and then I was out again.
The recovery process was normal although I did have a dry socket. I came into the office daily with no issues and the staff managed it. I did start to notice additional symptoms of headache, ear and jaw pain exceeding the time of the dry socket healing. I went back to Dr. Prinsell with these complaints, he immediately took x-rays to make sure he fully removed the teeth. The results, accoeding to him - were all fine. Not getting better, I went to see my GP. I explained my symptoms to her and with an exam - she diganosed me with TMJ. I told her the full story of my recent surgery, she said most likely - the doctor overextended my jaw to get my winsdom teeth...which explains me waking up during surgery in extreme pain - fast forward 2011, I'm still deaing with the pain of TMJ, somthing I wil have to manage for life.
