Dr Palumbo is great! He's a very nice guy with an upbeat personality and he got my semi impacted wisdom teeth out pretty fast. However, he lost a lot of kudos due to his staff. They are the worst team of people I have ever come across. Being as though I work in the dental field makes it worst, because I know how I treat my patients and how you are supposed to treat patients. You would think with me paying this big amount of money to have my teeth pulled that I would be treated well. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!
Not only was I waiting over an hour to be seen, but one of the ladies at the front desk had a really bad attitude and was speaking to me as if she was speaking to a child and I felt a little disrespected by that. When my fiancé was asking how much longer she acted like it was a problem that he asked even thought we were sitting so long. When the lady finally said that I was next up, someone came in after that and signed in, sat down for about 10 minutes and was called back before me. By this time (1hr and 15min) Im PISSED! I tried telling my fiance to forget it and lets just leave and find another surgeon but he said no wait until 5 (appointment was at 3:45 and I was told to come in early to fill out paperwork) right before 5 hits im rudley being called back. Being as though they closed at 5:30 I already knew what the attitude was for. The assistant barely greets me and directs me to what room to go to. She then starts handing me things and not explaining whats shes doing or why she's handing me these things. So I say "uh oh whats going on here" and she rudely says "your about to have a lot of saliva because Im going to numb you" (or something along the lines of that) I then realize she's talking about topical anesthesia. I do not like topical because its super nasty and just makes your mouth all tingly and you can still equally feel the same pain from injections being administered. I tried to explain this to the assistant but she wasnt hearing it and kept telling me to open my mouth repeatedly while she's forcing 4 cotton swabs with topical into my mouth. After she gets them in she says "well you dont have to have it" and rudely walked off. So in my head im like "do I leave or just get this headache over with" of course I stay so it can just be done and so I wouldn't have to think about those teeth causing any issues in my mouth. Dr P finally comes in and saves me because he sees that im damn near gagging on this nasty crap that I said I didnt want to begin with. He was so surprisingly nice and the complete opposite of his staff I was so shocked. He sat and chatted with me and explained everything he was going to be doing while beginning to numb me. His rude assistant then comes back in with this same funky attitude then another assistant comes in, doesnt even speak to me, but is basically explaining why this assistants attitude was so funky right in front of a patient. She said "she has to call her daughter" and Dr P tried telling her to go and that he could handle it but she declined. Im at the point wanting her to leave because im already scared shitless about this procedure and shes making it worse. So, Dr P begins the operation and I could still feel a lot of pain while he's drilling so I raised my hand to let him know. He stopped and gave me a few more injections and begin drilling again. I could STILL feel the pain so he stopped and said "sweetie we're gonna have to give you laughing gas so you can relax a little" the assistant acted like she had an attitude about THAT so at this point im just over it, over her, and over the office all together. Dr P was amazing but his staff is definitely bringing him down. Overall I feel like my appointment was rushed and I was treated poorly, as a paying customer. I have to get my upper molars removed next and unfortunately I will not be returning to Dr Palumbo because of his rude and unprofessional staff members. I would not take too kindly to that behavior a second time.
