My estimated treatment plan kept changing. Was told I needed 2 root canals, but while the dentist was in my mouth started doing a 3rd that we hadn't discussed. I was then scheduled for a cleaning and was told at that appt. I needed a very expensive and painful cleaning called a "scaling". My husbands cousin, who is a dentist but not on my dental plan and lives an hour away could not believe it. He said "scaling" is a drastic procedure done only when moderate to advanced peridontal disease is present. He said since my gums don't bleed when I brush, there is no way I needed that. After the fact, I read 6 other reviews in which patients were unnecessarily told they needed "scaling". FYI, scaling costs around 1200.00 as opposed to a minimal charge for a regular cleaning!
