I was pleased that Dr. Holman took a conservative approach to deciding my need for orthodontics. From x-rays, he noted an underlying health problem that he considered priority over orthodontic treatment; he referred me to a surgeon and deferred orthodontics. When I was ready for braces, I would have preferred sublingual braces, but the doctor's office did not use them and was negative about how they might affect my mouth and speech. Given the irritation and image issues I experienced with conventional braces, I doubt that sublingual braces would have been worse. The doctor also did not like ceramic braces for my front teeth, and only agreed to them when I insisted. Dr. Holman and the office staff were always friendly and usually punctual in all my visits. The initial year of treatment proceeded with nothing worse than the common irritation of wires and brackets poking and tearing the interior of my mouth. By the second year, I was frustrated with the lack of communication about the remaining goals to be achieved. Too often, I was told that "just minor adjustments" were needed. Given worsening gum recession and difficulty speaking due to the bands, I wanted more detailed explanation of his plans. I decided to end treatment early.

We had our two children treated by Dr. Holman and his staff. For the most part we were pleased with the orthodonture. We had some questions about certain aspects of it but realized there are differences in treatment options so to say one is better than another is wrong.
My biggest gripes were his waiting room and hours. The waiting room is small and and more often than not it was crowded to overflowing. On several occasions we just waited outside. It seemed to us that such a successful orthodontist could provide a more comfortable waiting room for his patients.
I was also upset with his hours. It's one thing to have to take a third grader out of class for an hour, but in the eleventh grade it's a different story. They do try to schedule most procedures after school, but it seems to me they can be a little more flexible with the older patients who really can't miss school. In that respect the office is very inflexible.
Also, in an office where these middle and high schoolers are their meat and potatoes, maybe opening even one Saturday a month might be a nice gesture. I know they don't have to do it, but it would be nice if they did.

Very friendly staff. Child friendly. Sally is wonderful. Billing department was very accomodating for multiple payments. Unfortunaely they did not have any discount structure for me as a single parent.
