About Front Desk: We have two children that have seen Dr. Vayda in Shakopee for braces. In 2012 my daughter had phase I and my son started braces in 2013 which we received a "sibling" discount of 5% off of the full total. Then my daughter needed phase II treatment in 2015, on this amount I only received a sibling discount on about 1/2 of the full amount. We paid for braces 3 times on 2 children which amounted to over $11,000. I asked the office manager on why we received a full 5% discount on one child and not the other. She didn't give us an explanation other than that's the way we do things and that "I didn't have to give you a discount but I did it anyway." In my opinion it seemed like this sibling discount was now a discount at her discretion to give out whenever. We asked Dr. Vayda about the discount who replied, "it's not that much." The discount would have been $132.50 which is much for us. I felt after the billing disagreement with the office manager she and office staff have acted unfriendly towards me and my family. The office manager mocked my 16 year old son while we were making appointments. I had asked him if he wanted to drive himself to his next appointment and he said he wanted to me to take him. (he is learning to drive and doesn't know his way around yet).The office manager commented, " oh you still need you mom to be with you." In my opinion a very rude, uncalled for and unprofessional comment to make about a teenager. I wasn't bothered so much if they don't like me, but they should treat my children with respect. While I think that Dr. Vayda is a good orthodontist I hate going back to this practice because of the experiences with the office manager.
