If this is the Dr. Nguyen at 2780 Cardinal Rd, San Diego 92123 (858) 650-0838 then we have had a great history with his work. The environment and people are friendly, and it shows that they care. We have been taking my daughter there for over 2 years and I would strongly recommend him.

Dr. Nguyen is fantastic with kids! Not only is he great, but his staff is awesome too and the office is fun!
First off, the waiting area is open and bright, with a TV playing a kids movie and a game system. So kids have fun while waiting.
Secondly, the area in the back with the dental chairs is somewhat open. There are two chairs that are in private rooms, but the chairs the hygenists use are open, so kids get to see each other and it all just seems really friendly!!
I have two daughters, one 4 years old is really easy going and has no problem with going to the dentist. The other, 8 years old, is a bit more aprehensive, but the staff and Dr. Nguyen are awesome with both. One is having their teeth cleaned while the other gets X-rays, awesome, neither of them get bored and we are in and out quickly. I love this place!
Also, they give the kids a goodie back with a toothbrush, stickers and flosser, before they leave!!
The girls actually get excited about going! I recommend Dr. Nguyen to everyone I know with kids.
The front desk folks are great too! I was running late, called on my way, and they were just really nice about it, didn't make me feel rotten for showing up late. Very polite and kind!!

Not pleased at all witht he work he did on my daughter. Two dentists have had to try and fix what he did and now we are looking at surgery on my 4 year old due to the treatment she got. Very unpleased and will never go back

Clairemont Dental seems to take most any insurance plan, so I like that. The office is nice, has toys and video games in the waiting area, and TVs in the rooms. However the staff weren't as friendly as you'd expect at a pediatric dentist. Even the hygienist didn't seem to make an effort to be happy or enthusiastic to make the kids feel comfortable.
My stepmom and sister are both dental hygienists in LA, and I thought the cleaning my kids got at Clairemont Dental was not as thorough as it could have been.
Dr. Nguyen is nice, better than his staff I thought. good bedside manner. Overall not bad, not exceptional
They always send reminders to make check-up appointments, and when we left from our appointment, they were somewhat forward about having us setting our next check-up appointment, and tried to sell us some fluoride treatment to use at home. My kids' teeth were healthy, no work needed.

My two children has seen Dr. Nguyen's office for two years up until now. At first, I thought he was a great pediatric dentist for my kids. Gradually during the past two years, I have seen significant increases in the cost of services in spite of me having two PPO dental plans, wait times has increased due to multiple pts having the same or close to an appt time as my kids, my questions for alternatives to keep my out of pocket cost low were ignored by staff, and due to increase pt volume, questions I have in regards to treatment of services are cut short by this dentist, and his personality is not as outgoing as before. In my honest opinion, I feel the atmosphere is lacking in compassion and has become more impersonal. I am now in search of another dentist who I feel is best suited for my children and share a similar philosophy on patient care. Dr. Nguyen does not allow parents to be present during their child's treatment. Heard the rationale, I just don't agree with it and the user comment below me on their patient policy is a realistic reflection of their office. It happened to me when my son's teeth needed to be extracted. I am disappointed that I was not more thorough in researching more dentists before I choose this one.

Dentist was very gruff with my children. He was not very "child friendly". Before dental work started we paid for it. He ended up not doing several of the procedures. Instead of an immediate refund we've been getting the run around. The dental work was done in Nov and to this date (Jan30) we have not recieved a refund. We have spoken to numerous staff members and left messages for this dentist. To no use. He hasn't called back and doesn't seem concerned about the matter. His staff is very friendly and try to be as helpful as they can. I wish this staff the best in dealing with this rough dentist.
