Dr. Luke Teruya is a dentist that has no emotion. Catches my attention that for someone who works with children has no emotion. Their office staff seems nice but rarely. They scheduled my daughter appt. On a holiday, drove all the way down there to find out they weren't open. Also another time, my daughter had a check up and no follow up call or reminder call. I called to check up cuz I felt it was pass 6 months for another check up, they said we no showed, no call. WELL if they reminded me, I would of showed up. SO, Dr. Luke Teruya dropped us as patients. His staff told us cause of this one time no show incident, he will no longer want to serve us or want us as his patients. WTF??? ITS YOUR FUCKING staff that's responsible too!!!!!! ONLY shows how much u care for your patients. I should of listen to others when they told me they changed dentist cause he wasn't a good dentist and kids was not comfortable with Dr. Luke Teruya.
About Front Desk: The front staffs is bad with communication. They scheduled my daughter for a routine check up on a Monday. I didn't know it was a holiday (labor day), they gave me the reminder card and everything. I went there that day NOT knowing it was labor day, and the office was closed. I drove all the way down from honolulu to kahala mall for nothing. The staff gave me no call or letting me know they made a mistake with the scheduling and need to reschedule. Communication is terrible with this office. They are just like Dr. Luke Teruya, no emotions. Dead personalities.

My twin daughters have been going to Dr. Teruya for 14 years. Dr. Teruya and his staff are always so nice and accommodating. It has always been a good experience for all of us. Most of their visits have been for cleaning but one of my daughters had her tooth extracted and didn't have any problems after the procedure. I would highly recommend him to my friends and family!

My daughter (4) had to have several teeth filled. She is very spirited (aka kolohe) and we were worried about the procedure. She came out telling us Dr. Teruya was kind and he made sure she didn't hurt. That meant the world.
Dr. Teruya was able and willing to fill her teeth with composite (white fillings) instead of traditional amalgam.
Before the procedure he explained what types of anesthesia were appropriate and the specific tools he would use. The communication was helpful in making the process as smooth as possible. He has a very calm demeanor which is reassuring to patient and parents.
Both my husband and I would recommend Dr. Teruya to anyone.

He has NO bed side manner....
My 4 y/o was TRAUMATISED by his staff, as well as my husband.
Found out they GASED and RESTRAINED her WITHOUT my husbands knowledge nor permission.
My husband asked to see my daughter SEVERAL times, and was DENIED, the staff stated she was doing ok, yet her screams could be heard in the waiting area. the 1/2 hour to 1 hour procedure took 2 1/2 hrs.
My 11 y/o was told to swallow her spit, cause she was slowing the hygentist done by asking to spit it out, mind you a suction catheter was not placed in her mouth to suction the water as they rinsed her teeth.
What kind of facility torments young children????
The dentist thinks so highly of himself, and seems to look down on everyone else including people he don't know are well educated.
I would NEVER recommend this dental facility, nor this dentist EVER....

Terrible bedside manner. Very arrogant. My son was 2 years old and Dr. Teruya missed a cavity which turned into him having a root canal, now the root canal is leaking and we have to have the tooth pulled. It was a terrible experience.

Talks down at the parents like we were 12 years old. My husband and I are both MD but of course I did not mention that. Thinks too highly of himself like he was above everyone in that room. Would NOT recommend. Please see someone else.
