"I would give this dentist a zero if I could. Parents...your red flag is when the doctor tells you that you are not allowed to go into the treatment room with your child. I use to work in the office and saw first hand how poorly children were treated. First off...he puts kids in straight jackets during treatment. Not all children, but only the ones who cry and try to get away from him during treatment. I wish I was making this part up. If the child is scared, just invite the parent to comfort the child and/or maybe use sedatives (with the parents permission of course). The doctor often scolds children and tells them "to stop the nonsense" if they are crying and very scared. Also be very weary if this doctor tells you that your child may develop cavities and shows you an x-ray of your child's teeth. On the x-ray he calls white dots on your child's teeth "watches" and will suggest fillings and/or painful silver caps for your child. Please get a second opinion before doing this. This doctor is only trying to scam you for money. This doctor can potentially scare some children from never wanting dental treatment again."

Dr. Uchida is a great dentist, my kids love him! He is very informative and upbeat. The children feel at ease with him which makes their experience much moe pleasant.
About Front Desk: The receptionists/front desk staff at the Kahala location are rude, unprofessional & lack customer service skills. I dread having to deal with them every time I take my kids in for an appointment.

Just call their office to inquire about finding a children's dentist and you will see why there are so many bad reviews. About six months ago, I heard the employees talking about the bad reviews posted online and by the next week or so they had made two official websites that had pushed back the other sites which had the bad reviews posted on them... Just find out for yourself and please make sure to pay close attention to whatever is said about the financial policies because that is how they get you trapped.

I have been in contact with this office for over a year, but out of safety and concern I no longer go to this office anymore. Most of the receptionist are nice, however there is one woman who appears to be in charge that has a short temper and intimidates you when you ask her a question. I don’t like the fact every time I go there seems to be new staff which appear to be very inexperienced. I would like my child to be around the same familiar staff. There appears to be a woman who works in the back that screams at the staff and tells inappropriate jokes (I am not sure if the jokes are being told to the staff or to the children). The doctor does not allow parents to go in the back while the children are being worked on, so I don’t know who the children are picking up the jokes from. The staff appears to be young. I want my children to be worked by mature, professional, caring people. This office seems to use child patients as lab mice and I refuse to have my children being treated by the Clyde Uchida and his daughters and that is why my family has chosen another dentist.

Front office staff is continually rude and makes you feel as if you are an intrusion upon them. Please don't even try to ask questions regarding balances, espcially if they owe you money- you will not like their response! While Dr. Uchida is wonderful, the front office girls are enough to make you leave!

My three children goes to Dr. Uchida and he is the best doctor for children. He staff is very helpful and friendly and Dr. Uchida makes my children feel very comfortable. His knowledge and skill level is top and we have been most satisfied with the service we have received. I highly recommend Dr. Uchida as a pediatric dentist.

My son is the patient. It is very hard to get an appointment.The answering staff and reception are not the most friendly or accomodating.You would think they would be considering it is a children dentist office. The lady that settles your a/c at the Aiea office is very straight faced and does not like to answer questions on the bill. We pay 100% out of pocket and they offer NO DISCOUNT .Dr Uchida is always nice but the front staff need alot of customer skills.

Great dentist! I have been seeing him since I was little but had to stop as I am now too old. Dr. Uchida and his staff always made me feel at ease and I never dreaded going to the dentist. If only he saw adult patients too!

Excellent dentist. My 4 year old loves going to see him and I love taking him. Dr. Uchida always meets with me aftewards to show me x-rays or just go over my son's records. Love him!
