We've been going to Dr. Nelson's office for over 11 years. The true test of a dentist is how things are handled when things go wrong. My 4yo had a tooth in really bad shape. Everyone was very relaxed and my daughter had no idea she should have been worried. The dentist told an improptu Dora Explorer story through all the work, which kept everyone very entertained. They all did a great job calming ME down after my son 'accidentally' kicked out my daughter's front teeth. They've also handled braces, so it's a full service pediatric dentist. Two Thumbs Way Up!

Dr. Nelson is the only dentist my children have ever seen. My son is going through orthodontia now. My daughter is a cancer survivor and has unique dental issues related to her treatment. I was so impressed to find that Dr. Nelson is knowledgeable about the effects chemotherapy can have on tooth development! I know other parents of cancer survivors who have been taken to task by dentists accusing them of neglecting their children's teeth, when in fact the problems are caused by treatment.
Not only is Dr. Nelson so very knowledgeable, but his calm and reassuring manner with the kids (and parents) is great . We also love his associate, Dr. Rosemary Gonzales -- a real gem! You cannot go wrong taking your children to this practice. Even though we live about an hour away in traffic, we feel the trip is worth it for this wonderful care!

Dr. Nelson and his staff are wonderful. My 3 year old had some pretty unusual dental probs that required him to visit the dentist frequently and even to have dental surgery. Dr. Nelson did the surgery and he was wonderful! He was extremely patient with my questions, and obviously very skilled with my son. His staff is wonderful too. Incredibly, they were able to clean my son's teeth without causing him to cry at all. They are the best!

I have terrible personal memories about my childhood dentist and I know that my kids will only have the best memories of Dr. Nelson and his staff! One daughter has had orthodontic care - it was done early and we avoided braces thanks to Dr. Nelson! Another daughter has had fillings and hops right in the chair with little anxiety! The youngest has the most anxiety adn the staff went out of their way to handle it - and when we needed to do fillings Dr. Ed had her go to the local hosiptal - and for this same daughter an emergency was handled wonderfully - first an after-hours visit (no problems...) and then at the hospital.
Dr. Nelson is a nice and kind man that I have only seen get ruffled one time in our many many many visits. The staff is terrific and friendly with lots of very experienced hygenists around to lend a hand if there are any even minor problems!

I highly recommend pediatric dentist, Dr. Edward J. Nelson, D.M.D., (2501 North Glebe Road, #100, Arlington, VA 22207, Phone: 703-525-8200). My four children have been going to Dr. Nelsons dental practice for six years. Dr. Nelson and his staff are always on time and they are very child-friendly (even with resistant patients). The fish tank, childrens book and play area, and prize drawers, make the office an inviting atmosphere for both children and parents. If Dr. Nelsons office were to ever relocate locally, we would surely follow. Tina Asinugo

Dr. Nelson and his staff are wonderful. When he extracted a tooth from my very nervous son, Dr. Nelson did a great job with reassuring him. His technique was so smooth, he had the tooth out before my son even realized it!

My daughter had a terrifying experience at another pediatric dentist, and I had to drag her kicking & screaming to see Dr. Nelson. Fortunately, she had a great experience there. Dr. Nelson's office staff is wonderful -- Linda had lots of suggestions for how to make my daughter more relaxed (she even sent us a video made to teach kids about the dentist for us to watch before the appointment). The hygenists are gentle and understanding and Dr. Nelson is very gentle & kind. Now my daughter and her sister absolutely love going to the dentist -- they consider it a treat. I like that Dr. Nelson discourages extraneous services (e.g. he doesn't take xrays until the kid's teeth are touching). Also, the practice has also been great in emergencies -- fit us in right away and stayed after hours. I recommend this practice highly.

Dr. Nelson and his entire staff are excellent professionals. They put the children at ease and explain everything to both the patient and the parent. I have two children currently under the care of Dr. Nelson for general dentistry as well as orthodontia.
We are so pleased with Dr. Nelson that we choose to use him even though he is not on the provider list for our insurance. His reasonable costs allow us to afford his services. He does not perform procedures until and unless they are necessary and explains procedures and costs before beginning the work.
I recommend Dr. Nelson to every parent I meet.

My 2-year old had a dental surgery and the care and treatment received from Dr. Nelson was incredible. The the staff in the office were wonderful and helped us so much with the arrangement in such a short time.

Dr. Nelson is a wonderful dentist! He has done cleanings and cavity fillings for my young child and was highly professional, personable and stress free.
