Dr.James Sinks has been my periodontist for 12 years. I just had a procedure which was a bit invasive. It never ceases to amaze me that after the "Local" wears off, and several sutures were put in, I don't even have the slightest discomfort.
Dr. Sinks has also proven to me that he does not recommend a procedure unless truly warranted. He's honest, professional and seems to know the business of dentistry splendidly. I highly recommend him.
I would also like to recommend his hygienist of 25 years, Cathy. She is also highly professional, and has a wonderful way with people.

Excellent. Professional, courteous, personable, considerate, confident, competent, etc. I have had several consults and a phrenectomy (spelling?) which is a cutting of the muscles inbetween each tooth to realign them and help keep them in place after braces (lessens the need for a retainer post braces). Although the procedure itself is very unpleasant (and the recover as well), he and his staff could not have done more to make my comfortable (other than put me to sleep). Throughout the years, I has always been a positive experience at his office and he is my first choice for any future periodontal services.
About Hygienist: Kathy has a pleasant personality; is sensitive and will make adjustments to accommodate your comfort level before and during the procedure; I have been with her for more years than I can remember; I have, on occasion, had other staff (Veronica?) clean my teeth and I was very pleased; they all are very good and are instructional in teaching the patient how to care for specific areas of the mouth, medicines that may affect the mouth, etc.

Dr. Sinks is an excellent periodontist. I had a consult with him and know several people that have had periodontal surgery and implants done by Dr. Sinks. He is very experienced and well versed in his field. He is very caring, gentle, and is a perfectionist in all that he does. My friends were very pleased with his work and couldn't say enough about his great staff. The office is very organized, and I felt like they really took a genuine interest in my dental health.
There are alot of dentists in San Diego, but Dr. Sinks really is the only Periodontist I would trust with my dental needs. He is really GREAT.
About Hygienist: His hygienist Kathy is great! She is very gentle, and very maticulous. I have never had such a good cleaning, and she was great at answering all of my questions.

Dr. Sinks is amazing. He has performed two gum grafts for me. If you need this procedure, I would recommend him. I am a very nervous patient, but the chair-side manner of Dr. Sinks and his staff is wonderful and very comforting. Even though this procedure is not pleasant, Dr. Sinks makes it an easy process. His staff is very informative, helpful and easy to talk to.

Very friendly reception staff, who seem to have been there a while. Dr.S has a great bedside manner, very reassuring and clear. A slight sense of "conveyor-belt" treatments, you sense the office is quite busy with multiple patients being seen at once, and Dr S moving between them. Very accessible for treatment in an emergency.
