I am patient with high dental anxiety. It's listed on my charts. I had appointment to pull broken root canal and install implant. They gave me four Triazolom .125 mg and they were not working. So my only option now is to pay them $600 for iv sedation. If you have high anxiety and money is no problem you shouldn't have a problem. Their oral sedation is not top quality.

I had a skin graft from the roof of my mouth to put on my gum line for recession problems. While Dr. Hovey presented in the initial visit as friendly, and his other staff members, the care during treatment and at the follow up session were disappointing. First, I was given a prescription to minimize anxiety during the hour procedure. It hardly worked and I was super anxious the whole time. The doctor didn't talk to me or comfort me once during the procedure. Stitches were supposed to be removed 2 weeks later. Because the doctor was on vacation, I wasn't seen for 3 weeks, by which time the removal of stitches was very painful because my skin had grown over them. Plus it was really annoying to have them hanging around in my mouth for 3 weeks. When I came in to have stitches removed, the assistant removed them, and I waited 20 minutes for the doctor to see me. The assistant kept telling me it'd be just a couple more minutes. Finally I left because I had another appointment. Also, the day of the surgery the doctor said he'd call me that night, and never called me then or at any time thereafter. I have to have the procedure done on the other side of my mouth in a few months. I will not return to Dr. Hovey.

I began seeing Dr. Schwartz at this office and now 7 years later I am still happy with the level of service of the office. Dr. Hovey took over the practice now four or five years ago.
I have used this office specifically for the hygentists and for monitor my gums. I had surgery done 7 years ago.

I've worked in dental offices before, and as a dental patient have had three periodontists. Dr. Hovey and his crew surpassed all my expectations, which were high as he was referred to me by Dr. Jill Price--another great dental professional.
Dr. H and his sidekick Cran took me through two grafting (gum and bone) procedures with NO pain--conscious sedation--and recovery was far easier than I'd expected. The follow-ups, including phone calls from Dr. H., were great.
I do recommend, as when having surgery of any sort, that you call the office staff a few days in advance to make sure you have ALL the information and instructions you'll need, and to get any scrips filled. When you arrive day of surgery, before you go in, confirm everything. Just a tip.

We consider ourselves very fortunate to have been introduced to Dr. Lawrence Hovey and his staff. Our decision to work with him and his staff was made after an exhaustive search and research how to best help our daughter who suffered a severe maxilfacial trauma. She suffered a fracture to her upper front jaw and lost her front teeth. In addition to this she has extensive damage to her gums. She is 18 years old. Though we live in Eugene... we decided to look ouside our area for help. After consultations with four other specialists in Eugene and Portland, in addition to the Shriners Children's Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, we made what we feel is the best decision possible by deciding to work with Dr.Hovey. Though we are just approaching what we hope is the last phase of her reconstruction we feel very pleased with the results. This was a very difficult reconstruction and through it all we feel we have gotten the best possible treatment and results. I highly recommend Dr. Hovey and his staff and urge you to take time to find the professional that fits your needs. It is well worth travel, time and expense.
