I was given fillings with an added service (some anti-sensitivity filling gel) that I did not request. I was then billed for it, and when I asked the billing to reconsider since I hadn't requested the treatment they were very obstinant and disrespectful. I highly advise you DO NOT SEE THIS OFFICE, unless you are comfortable with being CHARGED FOR SERVICES YOU DIDN'T REQUEST.

Dr. Cage failed to crown tooth tooth #20 after a root canal by another dentist and as a result I lost the tooth. Dr. Cage didn't even mention that the tooth needed a crown. Dr Cage performed crown lengthening on the tooth and never mentioned crowing the tooth even after the crown lengthening despite the fact that the tooth was hollowed out by the root canal- leaving it completely exposed. A week after the crown lengthening, I fractured the tooth. I then stopped going to Dr. Cage and had it extracted by another dentist who said that there was decay in the tooth although Dr. Cage never mentioned this to me.
There is one other incident where Dr. Cage did not evaluate a tooth for salvage purposes and proceeded to try to extract. Luckily, I stopped him before he pulled it out.
I also paid $1,000 for the crown lengthening and was supposed to receive a post and crown for that amount but never did because I lost the tooth. Dr. Cage never refunded my money for the post and crown despite numerous requests for refund.

I never had negative feelings about dentistry until I went to Gentle Dental. Now I understand the fear some people have about going to the dentist. The office is run-down, the front office staff are downright rude. I had barely walked in the door when the staff started yelling and literally throwing paperwork at me. The technician repeatedly choked me with all manner of tools available to her including x-ray film, water, and air-suction device. She managed to turn a seemingly benign mirror into a jabbing weapon. Some might think that the polish used is intended for teeth, but the technician seemed to believe that it belonged on my gums, on the roof of my mouth and down my throat. The appointment ended with a very cordial "you can rinse before you leave", which was much appreciated because my mouth was stuck together with remnants of polish. Dr Cage seemed to perform the requisite functions of a dentist, but was completely uncommunicative about the health of my gums and teeth. Even the toughest dentist-goers risk trauma at Gentle Dental.

Periodontal pocket depths were misreported as a means to prescribing very expensive, not covered by insurance, non-necessary treatments, including $176 worth of antiseptic rinse and an outrageous $492 worth of local antibiotics called Arestin. He also is either misinformed or just outright lying regarding the post-treatment care of Arestin. As it is a local antibiotic, its sub-gingival placement requires (according to the manufacturer's own literature) that you don't floss for 10 (ten) days. Dr Cage said that that was a misprint, and that in fact it was only necessary not to floss for 1 (one) day. Even if it was an honest mistake, wouldn't that raise a red flag for you if you were a dentist? Huge company with glossy literature has major typo? Not in this litigious day and age.

My husband thought that the facility was very dirty. He got 5 fillings and a "cleaning" in the same day! And he was in pain for 1 week. The cleaning only took 5 minutes. I had a root canal and I had much more pain than the one that I had with another doctor in the same facility.

I was so disappointed with my initial visit to Dr. Cage. First off, they don't do a cleaning on the initial visit. I understand that this is the policy for some dentists - but I felt that I should have been warned first. Teeth cleaning is my favorite part - I almost cried when I found out I had been kept waiting for an hour and I wasn't even going to have clean teeth. They were completely overbooked as well... just an examination and x-rays took over an hour and half. The staff was sub-par as well, I had one friendly encounter the whole visit and that was with the accountant, not those working on my teeth. Plus they immediately perscribed an exorbitant amount of work on my teeth - which weren't even in any pain. I'm willing to admit that I may have to have some work done - but 5 filings and a root canal in teeth that feel healthy and were okayed a year ago by my last dentist, well that just seems a bit overboard.
My advice: Stay away from Dr. Cage.

I had a visit with Dr. Cage and his staff; at first they were really nice that's because they were about to hand me an estimate of 2K for phantom fillings and deep cleanings. When I called to schedule my appointment much to my surprise they wanted more money for procedures I didn't need. I found a much better dentist. My advice, unless you have money to throw away don't select Dr. Cage as your dentist.
