I've had 5 root canals in two years and now i wonder if they were even necessary, and come to find out i've been paying roughly $500 more for each procedure and crown than other dentists in the area - that's alot! i really like her but i can not afford to keep going to her. And there are different assistants and hygienists there everytime i go, which constantly has me wondering why.

Anytime you go in to do routine cleanings/exams, there always seems to be way more wrong and they never tell you up front how much your CORRECT out of pocket is going to be. Then you start getting bills from them, that are usually incorrect. I have had to meet with them for the past 3 years to try and correct incorrect billing. They charge the insurance company and then try and send you bills for the same thing. Needless to say, we have found a new, honest dentist in town. Very disappointed.

About Hygienist: There is usually a new hygienist every time you go in. Turnover is very high !

Dr Matthes is a very dedicated and talented dentist. I have never had a dentist call me to check on how I am doing after dental procedures. Her staff is welcoming and friendly. They treat their patients like royalty. I would highly recommend Dr. Matthes to any of my friends.

I went in for an annual checkup, and routine cleaning. Dr. Mathes then said I needed to get my gums scraped as part of an annual routine process. Knowing litle about dentistry, I scheduled the procedured, paid mostly out of pocket for it, and had the very painful procedure done. I learned afterwards that it was an unneeded procedure, and that it happens a lo at that office.

Dr. Mathes is a very talented and compassionate individual She really cares about her patients. She has a wonderful sense of humor which makes it easier to sit in the dental chair. I found her staff to be helpful, friendly and knowledgable. The facilities are wonderful! Greg Davis

I went to Dr Matthes to obtain a referral for an oral surgeon as required by my dental insurance. I had chosen her because of her previous reviews online about how non-judgemental she is. I haven't been able to give my teeth the attention they deserved over the past several years and am very embarassed by that. Unfortunately, I got lectured on how insurance doesn't create a profit for dentists and I should put money into a savings account and pay out of pocket instead. Then I was told how bad I had let my teeth get. I had made it perfectly clear that I knew things weren't good and I was taking care of it now that I was financially able to. After all of that, she suggested that I would not follow through with the referal and would "find something else to do." So, her staff made the referral before I could check out. It was the WORST experience I have had with any professional, regardless of industry. After I relayed the experience to the oral surgeon, HE apologized because of how the experience gave the dental profession a bad image. The rest of her staff were wonderful, friendly, and understanding. I will never return to see her and will definitely not recommend seeing her to anyone.

Dr. Matthes is very nice and has a nice staff. However, I felt like a lot of unnecessary work was recommended. She recommended a deep-scale cleaning with several followup visits. She also recommended replacement of my fillings which were not giving me any problems. This resulted in the need for 2 root canels and 2 crowns. My insurance ran out after the first root canal meaning that I have to pay for the rest of it out of my pocket and those things aren't cheap! Also, the one filling that she did end up replacing resulted in a tooth that is now very sensitive to cold and liquids. Not too happy with the these results.
