Dr. Kafayi came highly recommended from a co-worker and he really is good. Finally ended my probs due to being lazy and not wanting to floss. I have a Sonicare and WaterPik and use them regularly and my teeth and gums are excellent. Just got a compliment on how white they are!
About Hygienist: Anna Maria, excellent with a lazy patient like me who does not floss. I alwasy request her for my regular cleanings.

I've been going to Dr. Kafayi since he took over Dr. Hayes' practice, I think about three years ago (2006). What everyone else here has said is true: he is professional, honest, painless, and highly highly competent. The whole staff are all wonderful.
His office is in a lovely art nouveau building in downtown San Francisco. The office itself is perfectly fine -- not fancy, but clean, nicely designed, etc.
About Hygienist: The hygienist I've used is Anna Marie. She's great! Very knowledgeable, very good at her craft. She's also really interesting to talk to.

Great dentist, great professional. The thing that is impressive is the longevity of his staff. Several came over from Dr. Hayes' practice, and they have incredible camaraderie. I quit one dentist many years ago because the front office was so disorganized. This is the opposite -- no administrative hassles and nice people who treat you extremely well.
About Hygienist: the best hygientist in SF. She is a DDS and knows more about teeth than most other dentists in the Bay Area.

I have been going to Dr. Kafayi since he took over the practice from Dr. Hayes. It is a testament to his work and his style that Dr. Hayes' entire staff is still there. The dental hygientist is a dentist herself and the front desk receptionist is a dental technician -- she really knows what she is talking about. Dr. Kafayi's dental assistant is extremely experienced and a real pro. The highest recommendations.

I went to four dentists before Dr. Kafayi was recommended to me by a close friend. Some had outdated equipment, some were pompous, one humiliated me by holloring, "We have to teach this guy how to floss!" to the whole office. The last one I went to replaced a filling and said I had a new cavity, which he also filled. After those fillings, I kept having discomfort: sensitivity and difficulty chewing on one side. I kept going back for adjustmetns before I realized I was seeing an unprofessional quack.
Dr. Kafayi replaced both fillings, but thought it was a gamble, since my x-rays looked good to him. I chose to have him replace them and I'm out of pain and discomfort completely! I was so impressed that he didn't try to "upsell" me that I had my other two old fillings replaced. He's conservative in his treatments, kind, humorous, gentle and communicative. The whole office is that way. Very professional and well organized, knowledgable, friendly. You have to see this guy!

I can smile againe , Dr. Kafayi and his staff were so caring and they did an excellent job.
