My husband and I love Dr. Butler and Mario! Before we received dental care from Dr. Butler, each year we had a new dentist. Dr. Butler provides exceptional quality, comprehensive care that dentist no longer seem to provide in this era of time. He is very personable and very honest. Some of the dentist that treated us in the past tried to pressure us to have procedures that we were not very comfortable with undergoing. Dr. Butler is an anomoly and Mario will make a trip to the dentist a good experience!
About Hygienist: Dr. Butler himself does an exceptional job cleaning my teeth and my husbands teeth! He is the best dentist (and honest denist) in the world and my husband and I will not go to any other dentist.

After years of going to "downtown" dentists with posh offices and huge staffs and huge efforts to sell me things I didn't need, along with high costs, I felt I needed a dentist nearer my home that I could access easily by public transit, I checked with my insurer and found Dr. Butler. His office is 2 blocks from Ballston Metro. Tooth cleaning and checking are not relegated to a "hygiene technician" but done by the doctor himself along with any other needed dental services. He and Dr. David Hester have a small, reasonably priced, "plain vanilla" dental practice in an older medical building on Fairfax Dr. They provide all the dental services that my wife and I have needed over the past several years in a friendly and professional manner and in clean, comfortable surroundings. I have had a filling and some filling repair and a crown over the last 7 years. My wife and I both got to Dr Butler and require 3 cleanings annually and I am glad to pay for the one not covered by insurance. I have recommended several friends to their practice.

I have been going to Dr. Butler and find him to be very good. He has kept my teeth to be in great condition.

This dentist is terrific!! I love going to his office -- and I spent half a lifetime afraid of the dentist! The dentist focuses on the patient -- there aren't swarms of unnecessary personnel swooping around, so the dentist is really there to treat the patient, which seems like a luxury these days!

Dr. Butlier has poor facilites, lackluster service, and questionable billing practices (I was once billed for "dental advice" - I guess it costs extra to talk to him). The worst part, however, was his extrodianarily rude receptionist and the terrible customer service. In addition to calling to remind me of my six month cleaning 15 minutes before the appointment, the receptionist would become very confrontational and rude if I asked simple billing questions. There are plenty of friendly, respectable dentists in Arlington who provide decent service. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Dr. Butler .

Dr. Butler gave me an extremely painful cleaning, and then filled two cavities - both of the fillings he gave me have since fell out, one of them twice, and I have had to seek another dentist, who was appalled at work Dr. Butler had done, as well as the problems that he has missed. Going to Dr. Butler was painful, stressful, and extremely costly to both my dental health and my wallet. Do not use him!!!

After having bad expierences in the past with many different dentist, a friend told me about Dr. Butler, so I gave it a shot. I have been 6 times so far and it has been wonderful, he is easy going and was able to answer all my questions no matter how silly they may have been to a dentist. The exam rooms are basic, older equipment, no frills, but I see it as one reason he is able to keep the cost to patients down. Go ahead and give him a try. trust me I have been to some expensive, painful Dentist out to make a buck, and also refused to go for 10 years, but Dr. Butler has changed my views of Dentist and the expierence too. Oh yeah, one dentist told me I needed a root canal, Dr. Butler said a filling was all that was needed. :)

Very old facilities and equipment. Dr. Butler has no assistant or hygenist and performs cleanings himself. Each time I left my mouth was raw and bleeding - very painful, and no concern by Dr. B. On one visit he used what resembled a Q-tip as the implement head to clean my teeth. On another visit the cleaning tool became very hot and burned by lip. When I went to Dr. Butler about sensitivity to heat/cold/biting in an upper tooth, x-rays were taken but he found nothing and sent me home with a sample of sensodyne toothpaste. Two months later I had a root canal on the tooth. I have not had the crown replaced and am seeking a new dentist. I would not recommend Dr. Butler to anyone with insurance. His prices are cheap - but you get what you pay for.
