Dr. Swanke gave me permanent nerve damage from a simple filling. I have been back to him several times and he has ignored my symptoms. After a visit to the endodontist, peridontist, oral surgeon, family practice and internal medicine, a neurologist finaly diagnosed me with nerve pain caused by Dr. Swanke. He has taken away my quality of life I am in constant pain.

I work in the Texas Medical Center and Dr. Swonke's office is very near to where I work. I went there for two cleanings and those went well. The dentist who did my cleaning did an excellent job. Then Dr. Swonke referred me to an oral surgeon last June to receive an implant and that went smoothly as well. After 6 months of healing, it was time for Dr. Swonke to make the tooth/crown and also I requested in-office veneers for my front teeth (the implant is in the canine position). When I visited him, he wasn't very confident about making the crown and the veneers nor was he confident about making the front as a whole look aesthetically pleasing (appropriate size, symmetrical, etc). I felt a little unease but I still went ahead with the treatment. The first step required them to send out an order. Before I left his office, I asked the front when it will arrive. The lady at the front desk told me that can not be known and they will call me when it gets to the office. That was in January. Now it's April, I still haven't heard back from them. I don't plan to go back and am looking for a dental office with a better service.
About Hygienist: The hygienist in the office offers excellent service. If it wasn't for her good service, I would have left long ago.

I like Dr. Swonke and the hygenists (both very professional, good with anxious patients, fixed dental pain) but the receptionist is abrasive.

I was recommended to Dr. T. Swonke from a coworker. I am sure he is fine but maybe I had a special situation. I had never had a filling and did not have any tooth sensitivity before going.
Dr. T. Swonke is nice but I had a large amount of pain. I had fillings on both sides and it took a lot of sticks to get my first side numb.
I had to go back to get the other side done, including a root canal on one tooth. I was fine with the first 5 needle sticks (and was stuck about 5 more times) but he tried to drill at least 6 times with a lot of pain. I had the most pain from the needle sticks, waking up in the middle of the night with shocking pain and I had purple, blue and black bruises in the back of my mouth. I could not open my mouth sufficiently enough to eat or talk for quite a while. This was my first root canal but people I had spoken to said that this was not normal- that there was pain but I should not have been so traumatized. I still have pain in my mouth and teeth and is has been almost 6 months.
I am now looking for a new dentist!

I've used Dr. Tom Swonke for about 15 years. He is competent and concerned about his patients. I've had good results from his work. His office staff is polite. I'm in the healthcare business myself and have extensive contact with many providers. I consider Dr. Tom Swonke one of the best!

Dr. Swonke drilled 5 of my teeth in one visit, replacing fillings that I later found out, did not need to be replaced. Every single tooth has given me problems and I could hardly eat for a week.
When I sent a certified letter to Dr. Swonke requesting an explanation for his choice of procedure, he merely stopped sending a bill. No reply and no interest in correcting my dental discomfort.
I had a friend that visited him and had a similar, poor-service experience. BE CAREFUL!
