Read Reviews for Dr. Shabnam Shariat
I ended up with Dr. Shariat as she was one of the few choices in my insurance plan. Evidently, low budget insurance gets you low budget dentists.
Her entire office pushes mouth guards for every new patient starting on day 1, once you buy one for $500, she suggested pulling some of my teeth because I had too many (?), pushed for additional *premium* options for routine procedures just in case I wanted a good job instead of the norm (?) and never once sent me an appointment reminder. Facilities were clean and modern. Once I got new insurance, I was outta there!

During 3 years, I went there for deep cleaning one time only and I settled the payment. Three years later I received a bill from this office that I owned them money for the treatment I received 3 YEARS AGO. I called them, and they insisted that I have not pay for the treatment I received 3 years ago. Can you believe that? Is that possible a patient can walk out from the office without paying? And why 3 years later? Because I might not have the receipt? This place is really suck and the staffs are not helpful at all. Just be careful if you decide to go to this Dentist. Keep all the receipts for maybe 5 years. After 2 weeks many phone calls (and stress) to this office and my Insurance, one of the staff told me that they found the receipt of my payment. This is one of the prove that they are not professional. And when I asked my insurance, the amount I paid to this Dentist actually over than what it should be. And I do not trust them and I will not recomend this place to anyone.

I had a terrible experience with this dentist. She looked at my X-rays wrong and almost starting drilling on the wrong side of my mouth. Once she realized her mistake, she did not apologize. I should have gotten out of the chair that very moment.

Dr. Shariat was very efficient. I had a lot of problems, and she created a plan to get as much done as possible before I had to leave to move to another part of the country. I have not had many problems with the work she did. The office (in San Francisco) was not the most warm and fuzzy. Dr. Shariat was nice enough, but the overall atmosphere was a bit stressful. But they got the job done.

Dr. Shariat herself was willing to talk at length about my dental health, and seemed to be very perceptive about details on my x-rays and past treatment. The office staff was extremely helpful, however, the person who completed the tooth polishing before I saw the dentist seemed insensitive to pain. However, Dr. Shariat does the detailed cleaning herself, which is nice and unusual. Despite that Dr. Shariat seems quite good after my first visit, I have one main problem with their office: Because my insurance is Blue Cross and the deep cleanings and fillings I need are covered for free (I found out from the office staff that the dentist will not be reimbursed from the insurance company), Dr. Shariat tells me I need an additional $520 of work that I'd need to pay out of my pocket that is not entirely necessary: the cosmetic "white' fillings rather than silver, and a special "medicine" after the deep cleaning. she also said if I don't get the "white" fillings, she may have to remove more of my tooth and I may need a crown. Seems she has a bad deal with the insurance and wants to be paid by charging extra services.

Friends of ours recommended Dr. Shariat. I visited Dr. Shariat for the first time after taking several years off from visiting the dentist and found her to be very pleasant and gentle. Despite a busy office, she found time to sit down with me and explain possible different procedures that will have the same outcome. She even checked the cost of all procedures against my insurance policy and promised to work with me to keep the cost of treatment reasonable. Recomended!

She also has an office at 500 Sutter St, Ste 204.
I went to Dr Shabnam Shariat for 1st time and all was well 'till I was on my way out. The office staff gave me a written primary treatment plan and strongly urged me to sign it. I was unable to resolve the issues, and MDC seems to have dropped Shariat.
From my complaint to "MDC", Managed Dental Care of California/Guardian, which I tried unsuccessfully to resolve:
Consumer was upset to find several discrepancies between what the MDC Disclosure Form indicated would be covered & coverage indicated by the treatment plan:
1. $212.00 for Misc. periodontal services listed as $0-15 (i.e. #4910).
2. $112.00: for a resin filling, #2393 even though both amalgam and resin fillings are fully covered at no charge (#2382/#2387) per MDC plan.
3. $1228.00 Main concern - Correct MDC patient fee for a porcelain/metal crown is $95.
4. MDC failed to follow their grievance procedure-had NOT documented grievance even though consumer had specifically told Guillermo he wished to file a grievance and then did so.
5. Deceitful, unprofessional claim that MDC pays nothing for any of the treatment plan.
Etc. - no more room.
Request for copy of plan contract and EoC ignored by MDC.

I have been seeing Dr. Shariat for years and would highly recommend her services...for crowns, fillings, etc. Her practice is focused on good dental hygiene to avoid any unnecessary dental work.

I have been the Dr. Shariat's office several times and had a few crowns put in there. While I am not all that impressed by the cost or the facilities, the doctors there were very pleasant and even took the time to call me back once on a sunday when a temporary crown fell out.

Unfortunately, I just came back form the office. The office at first glance was clean and fairly modern looking. However, I have a real problem when I get upsold regarding my healthcare!
First I need a deep cleaning...even though I had a cleaning 6 months prior...Then they found a cavity...although they couldn't get the pointy tool to stick in it...then I needed a night guard cause I grind my teeth...then I was SOLD on re-doing all my fillings and changing to the NEW GREAT PORCELIN fillings...of course my insurance doesn't cover those...
I feel like I wasted 2 hours of my already hectic day and still need to get my teeth cleaned. Unfortunately, I will go back to my other dentist that I really like, but have to pay cash for....but its worth it..not to have the feeling that someone is milking you for cash...and not really interested in your dental health.
