I look forward to my semi-annual visits with Dr. Chong. He is very attentive and focused on prevention. I have moved out of the area, but still see Dr. Chong because it is hard to find anyone as good as him.
I know this doctor: 4 years

Robert Chong was my main dentist for ~25 years; now I generally see his son Greg, who is a better fit for me. Greg is willing to give me local anaesthesia slowly enough that I feel almost no pain during the shot(s); Robert did not take that time, and the shots were painful. Greg is completely respectful; Robert less so. In 30 years I've had a lot of work; quality is usually very high. Weak spots: 1) a number of things have had to be redone (e.g., one fake tooth keeps loosening, which negatively affects my brushing and flossing, because I'm worried about knocking it out again), and of course I have to pay each time (no dental insurance); and 2) a few times I went for scheduled visits, they weren't ready (bridge not made yet) and Robert C. didn't bother to call to save me the long trip (the time-and-transit rebate I requested eventually came, but not w/o a fight, and its genuineness was dubious). Price comparison w/ other dentists says this office is very expensive; however, they have given me an extraordinarily flexible payment plan. Equipment is always current state-of-the-art (I think). I've been well informed on cost/benefit analyses of complex procedures/solutions, such as a bridge. Hygienists & front desk staff are great.

I had a small gap between my front tooth and incisor that kept collecting food leading to gum inflammation. The work was great with only minimal discomfort and still looks good more than two years after completion. I also really liked that they use film-free x-rays as I fully support moving away from the hazardous waste disposal of the heavy metals.

I've only ever needed routine x-rays and cleaning, but this is the most pleasant dental office I've ever been to. Chair-side manners of dentists and staff are all very cordial and caring.

This review is for Greg Chong, whom I believe is Robert's son that shares his practice. I was recommened to him by a friend, and I went to see him for my first dental visit since moving to SF. My problems included crooked teeth, need for cleaning and cavity filling, and a problem with my back teeth in which food got caught and was painful.
Michael suggested a complete new set of X-Rays. This process is unpleasant and made me gag a few times. For the crooked teeth, he referred me to another cosmetic dentist and invisalign dealer that I did not care for. He cleaned, filled cavities, and fixed the problem with my rear teeth, saying that it was a bad filling from my prior dentist.
In the year since, the problem with my rear teeth getting food caught has returned, but not as badly. I've received no reminders for follow-on appointments. I've decided that while Michael was pleasant and professional, that he may be a bit too young and inexperienced to handle my needs. I also feel that between the complete set of X-rays (rather than getting them from my prior dentist) and his aggerssive selling of power toothbrushes, he may be trying to sell me too much. I'm going elsewhere for my next visit.

Good dentist, might be a bit on the expensive side though and really concerned about selling electronic toothbrushes.

Greg Chong, his son, does my teeth and is great! He is quite meticulous and complete, leaving not a speck of plaque on my teeth. He is very careful and mindful of any sensitive areas in your mouth. A very friendly and personable doctor. Highly recommend!
