Read Reviews for Dr. Tegest Abebe
I have been looking for a dentist for almost a year. I went to Dr. Abebe looking for a quick fix and my worst fear was realized. The dreaded root canal! I ended up staying for 3 hours for what I initially thought would be the worst experience of my life but was I wrong. The whole procedure was painless and Dr. Abebe was extremely attentive throughout. She was also quick to respond to my questions and needs . I highly recommend Dr. Abebe!

I was looking for a Dentist in DC who took my insurance, and a co-worker recommended Dr. Abebe. I'm so glad she did! The office staff is wonderful...sweet, communicative and will bend over backward to fit you in, even at the last minute. Dr. Abebe is a gem...honest, kind and up to date on all the latest tooth technology. Overall, a great few visits. I would highly recommend this practice.

I have had a check-up/cleaning and a cavity filled by Dr. Abebe. Both appointments were efficient and thorough. I have had trouble in the past with dentists who don't believe me when I tell them I need extra Novocaine. Dr. Abebe - on the other hand - said, "You must have high bone density. I have just the thing!" The procedure was the most painless experience I've had in a dentist's office. I am very grateful to have found her!
I found her staff to be more than competent with insurance and scheduling issues. The hygienists are great as well.

Dr Abebe was friendly enough. First she told me I had alot of cracks in my teeth and then she told me I didn't have any cracks. I had a cleaning and a crown at another point. I recently discovered that there was a claim made against my insurance for a procedure that I did not even have performed. Not going back. Additionally, the office was dirty with very old equipment and water leakage was on the floor.
About Hygienist: Hygenist was pleasant and did a fair job with cleaning.

On my first and only visit to Dr. Abebe she prescribed over $2,000 worth of unnecessary dental procedures. After a very unprofessional and hard upsell attempt by the doctor and her staff I was told they would not be cleaning my teeth as "it would do no good" since(according to the dentist) my teeth were in a state of dissaray. Needless to say I was shocked by their prognosis but knew they were trying to sell all sorts of expensive procedures. I must say however that I was relieved they would not be doing anything to my teeth because the office was absolutely disgusting. The place was the dirtiest dentist office I have ever seen in my life. I seriously wonder how this office could pass even the most basic of health department examinations. Anyway, I went back to my old dentist for a check up and cleaning the next week. After explaing to my old dentist what took place at Dr. Abebe's office I was assured there was nothing wrong with my teeth whatsoever. I have had regular cleanings and check ups twice a year for my entire life. My teeth are in perfect order and for Dr. Abebe to perpetrate the kind of fraud she does is sickening. Be warned.

This is the worst worst worst dentist I have ever been too. The dentist is so unprofessional. The way she talks to her patient is the without respect.
I called many times to confirm my insurance but when i went there after hours of waiting they told me they don't and she treated me the worst. I had to take off from work to go to make my appointment. I had called and given her all my insurance information and reconfirmed in the morning before I went to the dentist but they told me they don't take my insurance after making me wait for hours. And they were very rude.

She recommended tons of work that was not needed, including work that has just been completed elsewhere. She pushed for cosmetic items. Her crown job was a disaster; her temporary crown messed up my gums; her permanent crown hurt my gums for another 8 months, to which she had no solution; I then had to have a root canal and pay for additional costs related to the refixing of the original crown. That crown lasted only 3 years before it fell out after an infection began to brew underneath it. Given that it never fit well over the gums, it was completely replaced by another doctor (and paid for again by me) . She also told me the insurance would pay for the work, which I believed, only to be told that this was not true, after the work was completed on the original crown. She might be a nice person and I liked her manner and patience, but that does not matter if the quality of her work is bad. I got the sense she was interested in making money and was willing to put that before my personal comfort.

Bad customer service - miscalculated what i owed after insurance and insisted i pay first - needless to say i have not received my overpayment balance back. The facility was poor - her tools were out of date and the treatment was not gentle - I have a fear for dentists and was met with ridicule and scorn with no sympathy. it was always hard to get an appointment despite the fact that there wasn't anyone there whenever i arrived for my appointment or after i left. the dentist was often late and always seemed to be at lunch or running late. not professional at all.
About Hygienist: didnt stay long enough to work with one.
