Totally unprofessional and highly impersonal experience. I was sent for a consultation to determine why a new root canal kept reinfecting. Randy's greeting was cold and totally different from the next patient who entered. Dr and his assistant are very cold and indifferent, they don't make you feel comfortable at all, and it's all business. First Dr said it was probably a cyst below the tooth, later he got addl xrays from my dentist and I was told over the phone to see another endodontist for an evaluation to potentially have an apicoectomy. I asked to speak directly w/the Dr. and Randy, the receptionist, basically ignored this. So I paid for nothing, now have to see another endo for another opinion. By the way, Dr claims digital xrays are too low resolution so insists upon taking old fashioned film exray- rediculous, how can a 1" film show more detail than a high rez digital image which can be enlarged, adjusted for contrast etc. I'm sure some folks have had good results but in the end, you want a friendly, open and honest opinion and not someone who is seeking to protect a referral status w/a Dentist, and just adding charges for unnecessary Xrays. I still have no basis for the Dr's opinion nor is it consistent with references that say a retreatment is best option before doing an apicoectomy. I questioned why the canal filling had extruded outside the apex of the root and noted this appeared to be due to faulty work-Dr. defended this as proper but that's not what anyone else says.

Dr. Welch is quite simply the BEST at what he does! I had to undergo a root canal and his advice was great. He referred me to a spectacular perio for a crown lengthening and I came back. Never felt a thing. Calm environment. And Randy is the priceless heart and soul that makes you feel so, so welcomed. If you're looking for an endodontist, you will not find a better one than Dr. Welch.

THE BEST!! Dr. Welch has now completed 9 root canals for me, so I have a lot of experience with his office and his techniques. Before each procedure he reviews your options and tells you about the process. Throughout each of the procedures he explains what he is doing as he is doing it("Now I'm going to numb this area, you will feel a slight pinch"--which I NEVER feel, by the way). You know what is going on in your mouth because he has briefed you before it happens. If you ever need an endodontist you will not find a better one than him!!!!!!
I hope your tooth feels better soon, by the way, since that must be why you are reading this review! Root canals are not unpleasant you have the right person doing them! You'll be smiling again the same day!

I was very pleased with the service from Dr Welch. He explains everything. For my #3 molar root canal there was no pain during and no pain after at all.
Appointments were not a problem to make. If you leave a msg he gets back to you right away. He takes late in the day appointments, like 400p too. Thats rare for big jobs.
Best of all he was covered by my dental plan. MOST endodontists DONT take your insurance. My dental coverage is probably the most widely used in Atlanta. Yet there was only one inside the perimeter (ITP) , Dr Welch on the plan!!! Had I gone to the Endodontist my dentist sent me too it would have cost me about 400% more!!! Of course each and every dental plan is different and yours might be completely different than mine. Fortunately he was on my metlife plan.
So if you are shopping around dont hesitate to go to Dr Welch.

Dr. Welch and his team are very informative, polite, respectful and professional. Dr. Welch talked me through the entire process of the root canal and answered all of my questions which I found very relaxing, as I have enormous anxiety when it comes to dental work. I experienced no pain from this procedure.

Dr. Welch is one of the nicest healthcare professionals I have ever visited in my life. His office staff is so courteous and caring. And Dr. Welch is a top act when it comes to professionalism and skill. I go to him because he is the only dentist who can handle my TMJ symptoms and doesn't get mad at me. A few years back he had to do a retreatment of a root canal. At the outset, he mentioned he might or not be able to find all of the canals. He had such a hard time finding one of them and then I felt the treatment in the missing canal and knew he had found it. He never gave up looking for it and didn't just send me on my way. I recommend Dr. Welch 100% to anyone! I have been having some more problems with a tooth and he couldn't figure out which one it was so he spent an hour with me testing two possible teeth and discovered one of them had a crack in it. We talked about my busy work schedule and how he'd speak to my regular dentist to discuss the history of the two teeth before making me spend money on a retreatment of a root canal I currently have in one of the teeth. He's just the best.
