The staff at the office is very friendly and helpful. Dr. Hoyt spent a lot of time on my initial examination. He spent more time than any other dentist has by far. Additionally, the office uses many advanced techniques such as digital x-rays, computer displays and video displays to show you pictures of your teeth while explaining the issues that are involved. In a sense, they document their observations by explaining them in conjunction with the images. I learned about a lot of issues I had with my teeth that I was unaware of before. It was a little scary at first to get so much information, but the problems did not need to be addressed right away and it is better to know what is going on with your teeth than to be blissfully ignorant. The hygienist I had on a separate visit was also very diligent and spent a lot of time cleaning my teeth and discussing treatment options and care options. The billing has not been a problem as my insurance company was billed directly. Regarding some of the advanced procedures that were recommended, such as crowns, I was given a written estimate and one of the other staff members discussed this at length with me as well as answering my questions. So, overall, this office is very thorough.

Hands down the best dentist I have ever been to--and I am not speaking in hyperbole. Dr. Hoyt has turned dentistry from a skill into a craft. From cleanings, to fillings, to cosmetic work, he is precise, gentle, and a wonderful sharer of knowledge with regards to process taking place. The final work is outstanding every time.
I had to see what I consider to be another very good dentist in San Francisco when my insurance changed a few years ago, but the difference between very good and Dr. Hoyt was large enough for me to decide to pay 100% out of pocket to go back to Dr. Hoyt after a year and a half of seeing the other dentist.
I really saw the difference when the other dentist did my second filling. Atfter getting fillings with Dr. Hoyt, not once could I feel a difference with my tongue between the original tooth and the new filling. Nor could I see a difference in the mirror--he matches color perfectly. (Once, he mixed four different color compounds to get the right match for the color of my chipped front tooth. No one, including me, could tell part of my front tooth was basically a filling.)
I can't recommend Dr. Hoyt highly enough. He's slightly more expensive than other dentists, but the cost is worth it.

I just recently had two fillings and one full crown done with Dr. Hoyt. Dr. hoyt is very pleasant and very, very knowlegeable, probably the most skilled I have ever been to and I have been to many quality dentists. He explaines evrything that he is going to do and then procedes with skill and speed. When Dr. Hoyt works on your teeth you know your getting the best treatment. Unlike some excellent dentists there is no slipping of the tools in your mouth, no carry over of work to other areas of your mouth.
