Read Reviews for Dr. Fred Grapel
I have been going to Dr. Grapel for quite some time. The office could use an upgrade but his staff is helpful and friendly and it's easy to get an appointment.

I started seeing Dr. Grapel on the recommendation of a friend; that was back in the early '80s and he's been my dentist ever since. I have had fillings, root canals, crowns, oral surgery, etc. You name it. Instead of feeling as if a professional is working on you, you feel like Fred is your friend and he's only looking out for you. He is kind and gentle but knows all aspects of the dental field. I have recommended him to many, many coworkers and friends.

I work in theater in Manhattan and had been trying to find a good dentist for a while. A number of my co-workers recommended Dr. Grapel so I made an appt. for a cleaning. The hygienist was friendly and professional. She was on time and did an excellent job. It had been a while since i had been to the dentist and I was impressed with the newest computer technology, I was able to see my x-rays on the monitors right away and was very happy about the fact that new machines use a lot less radiation. I also decided to whiten my teeth and was very happy with the results, working in theater, my smile is extremely important, I definitely trust Dr. Grapel to take good care of it!

I had pain in a tooth on the upper right side of my mouth. I thought I had cracked it or would need a root canal. I have always had very good teeth and had not had dental work before so I was very apprehensive about going. Many of my coworkers had recommended Dr. Grapel so I went. It ends up that it was just a tooth that had shifted, he was able to file it without any anesthesia, there wasn't any pain and when I bite down now I don't feel anymore pain. I was surprised by how reasonable his fees were. I then made an appt. for a cleaning and was very impressed by how thorough the hygienist was. I was able to see my xrays on the computer screen immediately and I still don't have any cavitiies. I would highly recommend Dr. Grapel and his staff.
About Hygienist: The hygenist, Anna, was terrific, thorough.

I was new to Manhattan and found Dr. Grapel's dental office online. I had pain in one of my teeth, thought it was a cavity, and needed a cleaning. Dr. Grapel charged for four fillings and only did two. The cleaning was overcharged as well. I had to go to another dentist because one of the fillings Dr. Grapel did caused continued pain. The new dentist said the two fillings done by Dr. Grapel were too shallow and improperly done. The new dentist said the rest of my extensive dental work was well done-NOT Dr. Grapel's work. I decided to switch dentists and Dr. Grapel's office wouldn't mail my xrays unless I paid a $40 charge, which is not standard practice among dentists. Rather than pay this incompetent and unethical dentist another dime, I paid for a new set of xrays from my own pocket. I would recommend anyone considering using Dr. Grapel find another dentist.

Have been going to Dr. Grapel for many years. Always a pleasant experience. Most recently impressed by the latest technology in the office. The new x-ray system is terrific. Staff is friendly and knowledgable.

I have been w/ Dr Grapel for 8 years now and I recommend that anyone currently going there or considering going there to think again. Reasons: 1) several times I have been over-billed by their receptionist for treatments that are partially covered by my insurance and NEVER have they called to correct their mistake. I have to call and request a refund. 2) Dr Grapel is the most unprofessional dentist I have ever met. While doing a crown implant he left me in the chair in the middle of the procedure, in severe pain, to argue and clear up an insurance payment matter - rather than finish the work and deal w/ the insurance afterward.

A friend recomended this dentist when I first moved to NYC and I have been with him ever since. Very friendly down to earth guy. Assistants have varied in quality with recent ones being better than previous ones. I had a root canal with him and felt absolutely nothing in terms of pain. The only bad thing I have experienced is that the cost of the root canal wasn't fully explained. Just a miscommunication not a bait and switch.
But overall a really good dentist.

I am 56 years old and have had many dentists in my lifetime. Dr. Grapel (Fred, as I call him) is not only the best dentist I have ever had, he is kind, understanding and gentle. I am so lucky to have had a friend recommend him to me. He had done so much work, i.e., crowns, root canals, extractions and, in my book, there is no better dentist.

I had broken my front tooth just 1 month before my wedding and was in a panic. A friend of mine recommended Dr. Grapel. When I called the office and spoke to Rachel, she immediately set me up for my first appointment. Dr. Grapel understood how important it was to have my smile look perfect as soon as possible and he made it happen. The broken tooth ended up being a blessing in disguise, my smile is nicer than it has ever been and now I have a great new dentist right in mid town Manhattan. My wedding photos looked great and now my new husband is planing on doing porcelain veneers with Dr. Grapel. I highly recommend him.
