This was by far the worse experience I have ever ever had at a dentist office. It was disgusting and everything was falling apart. I feel horrible for not researching this for my family. We all feel traumatized.

I made the appt. to have two fillings. I wasn't greeted upon entering the office by the 2 staff members at front desk. After filling out forms and insurance, the asst. walked back in had front desk confirm my insurance. No one still made any attempt to be friendly. I was brought back to exam room, and x-rays done. The assistant said he wanted to do just 1 tooth and it wasn't the worst one that was broken. I was the last patient. I had to ask to have that tooth done expressing my concern my tooth could break more and I'd be in pain or end up having it pulled. There was no sink, I was never asked if I wanted to rinse, even after the 1st attempt to fill my tooth came out when he pulled the floss in between my teeth and I was picking pieces of the material off of my tongue. I was scared feeling the hole in my tooth after that with my toungue. I feel that even though the 2nd attempt seemed to stay intact, I feel I need to go somewhere else to see if it's been done correct. The equipment was out dated and didn't seem sanitary. I should've walked out like my gut said when I was in waiting area. I'll be calling my insurance company asap to change dentist and complain and won't pick another one til I google reviews 1st!

The staff was very friendly. Yes, the office is a little old but the work is excellent. I never had a problem with the Doctor or his staff and I have been coming here for 5 years. My children and husband enjoy Dr. Spain. He has three offices in Norfolk and Virginia Beach and all of them had good Customer service.
About Hygienist: The office is a little out of date but the equipment was clean and sanitary.

Very friendly doctor and staff! Felt very comfortable. Good prices with my dental coverage. Older building, a bit run down...but doesn't impact the care you receive.

I chose Dr. Spain because I went to school with a family member of his. His practice is small and the facilities aren't amazing but I've been happy with his service & staff. My teeth aren't in bad shape & I've only needed cavities filled once (when I first went, hadn't been to the dentist in several years before that!) Now I go every 6 months for my cleanings!

everyone is unprofessional, misdiagnoses my pain, says i need a cavity filled when my endo says i definitely need a root canal. He gives very painful shots, my mouth hurts for weeks afterwards, and my root canals are painless compared to his fitting a crown. ive never felt a shot in my mouth or hurt afterwords the way i hurt when he gives me a shot. i went to get my teeth cleaned... since when does getting your teeth clean take under 15 seconds and not require flossing... oh thats right, they ran out of floss, so the assistant told me.
unprofessional, over all, and painful even when im just getting a temporary crown. it sucks my college has such crappy insurance that all i get is a dental discount and he is one of the few that cover what i need
