Read Reviews for Dr. Michael Shinners
I had one crown replaced (back molar) and a new crown installed (upper premolar). Very little pain involved with procedure. Crowns are beautiful and fit perfectly. They were turned around inless than a week. Overall a very upbeat, positive atmosphere.

The office staff and dental hygenists are helpful and friendly. It is Dr. Shinners that could use some lessons in chair-side manners. He usually seeming impatient with my children. I took my three kids there for 1.5 years. The last visit, for my daughter, was for sealants applied to back teeth. She struggled and gagged through the whole process. I tried to hold her hands (to keep from interfering). He threatened that if she didn't behave I (mom) would have to leave the room. I talked her thru the procedure more than he or his assistant did to try calm her. After it was done, he mentioned manager fee due to her fighting during the precedure. The fee is $50! He than left the room without another word. Turned out I would have had to pay this fee before leaving, since no insurance co pays this fee. There was no notice of such a fee posted anywhere and I was NOT informed of it before hand. He said my daughter causes him and his staff stress. When calling around for a new dentist (right after getting back home) none of the other dentist offices had heard of such a fee. We were ok with his work, but he is not good w/children. We did not pay the $50. He removed charge, but said we would be billed this on her future visits.

I went to Dr. Shinners requesting a tooth be removed due to a large cavitity falling out from childhood. After rebuttal from him he said he preferred to do a root canal. I had to have two different appointments for this root canal and it was to the cost of approx $250 out of pocket after insurance. In the end the tooth had to be pulled. The root canal was an unnecessary expense as it is not what I wanted in the first place.

I had resin fillings did for multiple cavities inbetween my teeth. After he was done I could no longer eat on one side of my mouth, the side I usually ate on. I now had pain on that side, and he left the fillings way too high. I went back for him to fix it and he seemed agitated and treated me like I did not know what I was talking about. He did a little drilling and he was done. My mouth was slightly better but not much. Months later, after never going back to get that side of my mouth fixed from his bad dentistry, I formed a very bad abcess on that side of my mouth, my face blew up and an unbelievable amount of pain! (I am only 25 and feel this is way too young for this complication!) I went to a different dentist, and my prognosis- A root canal!!! Then I will have a crown, but i am happy-I will finally be able to eat on that side of my mouth. They will still need to readjust my bite.
