We were patients of Dr. Spitz when one of my sons, then 14 mths, fell and broke his front teeth in half horizontally. Dr. Spitz said "Oh they're not fully erupted." They were broken in half!
He then told me that breastfeeding had caused "baby bottle mouth." Firstly, that term was discontinued b/c they now know that the Strep Mutans bacteria cause "Early Childhood Caries." Spitz should have known that. Secondly, as I told Dr. Spitz, breastfeeding does not cause decay. If it did, all of the mammals around the world would be toothless.
I left and found a dentist who immediately recognized that my son's teeth were broken and the dentin had broken off. He needed 4 extractions and they were abscessing - had I stayed with Dr. Spitz and relied upon his word, my son would have endured the pain of four full abscesses.
For a mainstream office they are pleasant, efficient, nice. I found them behind the times regarding cavities and fluoride (it inhibits absorption of vit D, and kids with caries need the vit D).
