Dr. Kirk extracted four wisdom teeth for teenage son. Medically speaking, from my son's veiw as patient and my own as an observer , we rate this doctor highly for his surgical skill and expertise.
Our problems arose with his attitudes toward insurance companies with which he is voluntarily under contract with and incompetent billing/insurance personnel and procedures. Dr. Kirk was an in-network surgeon with our dental PPO insurance plan, agreeing to do his work for a contracted fee which he agreed to with our insurance co. This should be the simplest and least controversial way to bill and collect payment. The doctor and insurance co. are supposed to know their contractual "system". This doctor personally informed us on the morning of the procedure that we would have to sign a letter ,crafted by him, guaranteeing him payment in a "reasonable time", reluctantly we did. He removed the 4 teeth and his office filed the claim for 3 teeth. The office manager became beligerent when informed numerous times about their screw-up. It took four months for them to complete the claim all the time badgering us.Honestly I must say the insurance co. was blameless. This doctor still owes us $55 they double-dipped and they won't return our calls.
