Dr Robinson is a nice person and a decent (not outstanding) dentist, but his office staff is incompetent in their billing, especially in the processing of insurance claims. If you have insurance, GET A PRE-TREATMENT estimate! This will protect you from billing surprises and provide you with alternative treatment possibilities at lower cost. Without obtaining a pre-treatment estimate, your treatment may not get authorized as medically necessary (it being too extravagant for your insurer) which will result in you having to pay the full non-discounted price even though you are going to an in-network dentist! (You may also be able to opt for a less expensive treatment that may be covered, and thus receive the in-network discount). Of course, if you get the pre-treatment authorization and it turns out that your insurer feels the treatment is extravagant, Dr. Robinson will typically reduce his charge upon request prior to treatment to the in-network allowed amount assuming he is in your insurance company's network. But, if you don't do this you will not receive any discount from him and will have to pay the full charge as if you are out of network.
