I think clinically Dr. Smilak is one of the best. His bed side manner is a bit gruff. I had a couple of negative experiences and utlimately switched dentists. He seems to have a little less patience with patients and his staff than some other dentists I have been to. Their office is in the "hood" and I often worry about leaving my car there. I wonder why they don't move to a nicer area? The front office staff are nice, although since it's a family run office you do sense some tension between those that are "family" and those that are not. Again, I think his work is top notch but the overall experience leaves much to be desired.
