I've known Steve Ostwald since the early 80's when he was a dental resident. He trained at the Mount Zion dental clinic, which was an excellent training facility for postgrad dentists. Steve is kind, warm, very skilled, and, most of all, concerned about his patients' welfare. He specializes in working with people who have "dental fear" (of which I am not one), and he explains all the procedures, checks with you periodically during the procedure to see how you're doing, and makes sure you're comfortable. His staff is efficient and helpful. There isn't a high turnover so you get to know the receptionist, xray techs, and hygienists over the years. I've had all my childhood fillings replaced and some gold crowns placed, and every procedure has been painless and fast. The office is light and airy and spacious so you don't feel claustrophobic. Aside from the fact that Steve's my friend and he's a great guy, I would recommend him highly for his skill, chairside manner, and helpful, friendly staff.
