After 3 cleanings (each 6 months apart) for which my insurance was billed for an "oral exam" each, I never even met Dr. Valles. I originally went out of concern for a black spot I could see on my tooth that felt sticky, but I was assured by the hygienist that I didn't need to fill it yet based on her assessment of the xray. No offense to hygienists, but I would have liked the dentist's opinion too. Eventually it started to hurt and I went to another dentist who filled it right away!
My other main concern was the staff who billed my insurance company. After EVERY visit I received a bill by mail that didn't match my calculations from the paperwork sent to me by my insurance provider. Each time I had to call Dr. Valles' office and explain the math to "Alma" and ask for her explanation of the charges. Every single time Alma, who I assume is Dr. Valles' insurance billing expert, met my request with hostility but eventually realized my account was paid in full afterall. I cannot stress how incompetent I found this woman. I have no problems paying the bill if I can understand the charges, but I did not appreciate having to call and explain the charges LINE-BY-LINE after EVERY SINGLE VISIT in order to make sure it was right.

I love Dr. Valles and Jennifer, the hygeinist who also works in the office. Both are very good at setting me at ease, providing me with thorough information and explanation, and (probably the best part) they never, EVER pressure me or try to sell me anything. I never thought I'd find another dentist as great as my childhood dentist, but Dr. Valles exceeds my expectations at every turn. I highly recommend him, and Jennifer. The office staff is also friendly, but they've frequently underestimated what my insurance will cover so I always end up out-of-pocket a bit more than I thought I'd be. It would be nice if they could fix whatever glitch is going on there.

Everyone in the office is very friendly and knowledgeable. The facilities are a little run-down and out-dated, but still do the trick. I was a little annoyed when they did some adjustments without telling me the extra cost beforehand and then expected payment right away. My temporary flipper was a different shade and made me very self-conscious; the permanant porcelain crown, however, was just right in the end. I appreciated the meticulous care and effort they put into my difficult case.

Dr. Valles is a very caring and gentle dentist. I have had a fear of dentists since I was a child. Over the last six years, he has taken that fear away. His office is quite outdated, but I would not choose any other dentist.
