I agee with the old school facilities. I went in with tooth pain and he had me wait using conservative treatment on antibiotics to "see" how it goes. I ended up needing a root canal and the pain for two weeks ( I sucked it up because I though tthat was what was called for by him) was so bad I couldn't sleep or eat unless soft foods on opposite side of mouth. I hate having to resestablish at another dental location so I tolerate the routine cleanings there since. If it ever happend again I would go for a second opinion. I went (was referred) to another place for root cananl and it was one of the most painful experience of my life because my gum was so badly infected from waiting so long and the numbing shot they gave was brutal.

The receptionist was Awesome, she and I bonded! :) I felt as if I knew her already. I would reccomend this office! They take my insurance and from what I understand many more. So I have lots of people to send! Great office

Most terrible experience of my life!!! I too was told that they don't do cleanings on your first visit...naturally not until i was there. They did x-rays and told me I needed 3 crowns (I am a SEVERE grinder). When going in to get two of the three crowns done, I requested Nitrous he said no, it had been years since he had used the tank in the corner of the office. When I asked him to stop due to pain he wouldn't (last I checked, this is the definition of a battery). When I physically reached for his hand to make him stop (my roots were still intact, no root canal was done so I could feel EVERYTHING), he huffed and puffed at me, tossed his drill down and reluctantly gave me more Novocain. After waiting a few minutes he came back and wanted to rush back into my mouth. I had to stop him and tell him to stop rushing, and to treat me like a human being. I know when I feel pain. In any event, I had 2 crowns done, side by side. He used ONE temporary to cover 2 teeth. He was very rough, jerking my head around or pushing on my jaw. I constantly had to ask for a sucker straw or rinse to get chunks of teeth out of my mouth and there was dried blood on the side of my swollen face upon getting into my car.

About Hygienist: Upon finding a new dentist to do my third crown, I called his office and asked if they could EMAIL my electronic x-rays to me new dentist. I was told that they needed the request in writing, along with a 20 dollar payment for the fee. (I could see paying if they were printing on paper or giving me hard copies of my X-rays, but an e mail? C'mon!) I asked for a fax number and was told that they need payment with the request. I said that was fine and offered to give them my credit card. They said no, they don't accept payment over the phone. I asked what I should do if I work in the city, leaving Alexandria at 7am and arriving back at 630 pm. They said to mail it. I need it for my appointment with my new dentist this week. Basically, this office rushes you in and out of the office like cattle and is not willing to work with customers on anything such as payment (despite having primary health insurance and secondary high option dental, I still owed over 1200 out of pocket), or taking a credit card over the phone so you can have your records transferred elsewhere due to the terrible dentist that the office employs. Not to mention, they don't tell you that they don't do cleanings on the first visit until after you are there. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DENTIST.

Talk about rude. The front desk and phone staff seemed so annoyed all the time that it made my children and me uncomfortable. They were reticent to release x-rays and records, even x-rays that we brought there from another dentist. The dentists seemed condescending and unconcerned, we all had the feeling we were not welcome there. The hygienist insulted me under her breath, as if my ear wasn't six inches from her mouth. Really.

His diagnosis seemed inconsistent. Every time I'd go there, he'd come up with some other treatment (more costly) that I would need. Prescribed no pain medication or made any suggestions about it. I couldn't sleep, the pain was so excruciating that tears would come out of my eyes and I had migraines. When I called, he said something like "Oh, the pain is normal, just take some aspirin". I remember there being two other patients when I was seated at a station (or whatever you call it). The equipment seemed new and up to date. But he was running around trying to take care of all three of us at the same time (trying to squeeze out that dollar. After having a procedure which he quoted to be $2500 job, it ended us costing $3500 with all the required add ons . Dr. Benjamin Lee seemed more like an amateur sales man than a medical professional. ). There are still work to be done on my teeth as he pointed out but it's definitely not getting done by him.

I was not at all pleased with my experience with Dr. Lee. I went in for an exam and cleaning. I was told his practice's policy is not to do any cleanings until they diagnose any problems, after which they proceeded to come up with more than $600 in out-of-pocket expenses for "much needed" repairs. This included replacing all of my amalgram fillings with more attractive white fillings. Dr. Lee employed "scare" tactics, insisting the dark area where the metal had seeped into the tooth was "all decay." After seeking a second opinion that rejected his "decay" claim., I opted not to have the fillings replaced. I also did not care for the "cubicle" type environment of the office which forced me to listed to 4 other patients' treatments.
