Rutner has been disciplined by the Dental Board for "incompetence" and "gross negligence". See:

I went to him briefly before knowing this. He put a crown on, and I had a lot of problems with it, which Rutner never corrected. The dentist I subsequently went to told me the crown was incorrectly done. He had to remove it and start all over again.
Why the Dental Board has allowed this guy to continue to have a license and inflict misery on unknowing patients is quite a mystery.

It is very difficult to communicate with him. He does not give me enough time to ask questions and everything went too fast.
I had two molars treated with Dr.Rutner. One had root canal retreatment by the endodontist. He told me wait to place an crown on for two months to make sure this molar is O.K. I told this to Dr.Rutner, but he told me he was going to get this area ready for crown anyways. He placed the crown with soft cement so he can remove it if this does not work. Of course, he charged me for this. Fortunately, I am not having problem with this tooth, but i am not sure if he was going to give me money back if I ended up getting this tooth extracted.
I am currently having a problem with the other tooth he treated. This molar is bothering me after he did cerec on this. It only bothers me when I bite hard. It seems something is loose. I even thought that this cerec was temporally because it did not feel right.
I do not recommend Dr.Rutner for anyone who need serious dental works. i am very disapointed. I am not going back again.

Dr. Rutner's office is very clean and asthetically pleasing. His staff is friendly and professional. I couldn't tell you much about the doctor himself as he has dedicated a total of perhaps 20 min with me over the course of 5-6 appointments. I did not feel like a valued patient, more like another cog in the machine. Dr. Rutner had no time to discuss what my best option for treatment might be. I was given two options and told to choose one and make an appointment.

I had crowns done because I was told that it was necessary because my teeth were ground down. After the procedure, I was in a lot of pain and was unable to chew. After several alignments, the pain persisted. I am now needing to go to an endodontist to find out if I now need to have root canels done.
Definitely would not go back to this dentist. The procedure was VERY painful. Even the novacain shots he gave were very painful.
To be fair, the front office personnel, and other staff members were very nice and helpful. The office billing needs to be looked at closely because they do make errors.

Beautiful new facility, helpful office staff. Unfortunately, I have had trouble with the dental work. Dr. Rutner told me my old amalgam fillings needed to be replaced about five years ago. Since he put in new white fillings, I've had many, many problems with the fillings and ceramic crowns breaking and continued decay under the new fillings eventually requiring root canal and complete crowns. I realize dental restoration have a finite life time, but I would hope a filling could last more than a few years. The amalgam ones did. And the work is not cheap.
I haven't seen Dr. Rutner himself for years, since the original work. I've gone through three or four of his staff dentists that seem to turn over pretty fast. As I said the office is new, but it's got a huge number of chairs and has a bit of a factory feel. The fact I recently saw him advertising on TV just added to the "quantity over quality" feel that I get.

The treatment rooms are open and exposed so you hear everyone elses treatment, and they yours. The dentist cannot make recommendations without seeing a "specialist" first at an extra cost not covered by insurance. The front desk staff were unaccomodating and it was like pulling teeth to get them to send in a pre-authorization for treatment to the insurance company (so I would know if the precedures would be covered and my out of pocket expense). They switched doctors on my after my appointment was scheduled.
It was the worst experience.

I went in for a crown. When getting a shot in the palate by the dentist, I squinted. The hygienist then commented that maybe now I'd take better care of my teeth. I grunted as if to say "What?" and he repeated the same thing. The dentist didn't say anything to the hygienist. Then, they placed the molding material in my mouth, told me to bite down hard, and left the room for several minutes, not telling me how long I need to continue to bite down, nor when they'd be back. I was completely uncomfortable during the entire 1hr visit.

I've been with Dr Rutner's office for years. His support staff (hygienists, dental assistants, etc.) are very good. However, as long as Dr Rutner wasn't actually touching my teeth, everything was good. However, when he 'treats' my teeth, it is very, very painful. I feel he is more concerned with the business of running and growing an office, rather than treating patients. Hence, he should refrain from treating patients. Not surprisingly, I've left his office, which is really sad, since he's so close to my house. :-(

Have been coming to this office for years and I just adore the staff. The girls in the front pleasant and very helpful. My company switched over to some other plan and they cleared everything up with my HR Dept and ins co.
I've been blessed with pretty good teeth so I only needed a couple fillings and I thought everything went pretty smooth. A little pricy, but what isn't pricy expensive around here? Hey, you get what you pay for.
I like the folks over there at this dental office.
