He is a fine dentist - but his business is terribly run. They are on again off again with insurance. You are put on wait lists for appointments and never called back. A horribly uncertain environment - one you absolutely CAN NOT depend on.
If you value your relationship with your dentist, this is NOT the place to go.

Good doctor with CAD machine, but usually takes longer than 6 mo.s to get a cleaning scheduled and up to two months to get a filling done. Front office usually not knowledgable on how many appt.s to schedule, and not able to deal with insurance too well.
Once you get in it is OK, but getting in is hard and you have to be on top of the front desk.
About Hygienist: High turnover of hygenists. Delayed appts.

It is so hard to find a good dentist... especially one that takes our insurance -- so we gave Dr. Mata a try.
His profile seemed pretty decent, not too old so he that he can't see our teeth, and not too young so he doesnt know what is is doing.
However, when we called to make an appointment, it took multiple tries for them to answer their phone. It would ring and ring and ring, and still does that to this date. BAD! We finally got a hold of them, and you literally have to call MONTHS ahead to schedule a cleaning. ALSO BAD... what if plans come up, you have to make another appointment months in advance.
But when we actually got there, the paperwork/office staff were okay, not rude, but not that friendly either. They seem very lazy - we have two insurances, and they wouldnt bill them both for us, not to mention, even cooperate with us in getting something as simple as a reciept. Again, BAD!
The actual dentist and dental hygenists were EXCELLENT. They take the time to clean each teeth, making sure it is "back fromthe dentist clean" and the hygenist takes time to explain how to take better care of your teeth, products to use, remedies for sensitive teeth, etc. Love the dentist, hate the office people...what to do??

Dr. Mata seems to do good work, but is very poor in communicating what needs to be done. I never hear from him after my children go in. When I go in, I only find out what needs to be done when I go to pay by the office personel. New office personel fairly often. Hard to get in in less than 6 mo.s for non emergency procedures. Front desk is little irritatted when I ask to speak w/ doctor about my minors checkup.

I brought my children to see him, because he was on our insurance. As they called my daughter back they told me I wasn't allowed to go with her. My daughter was afraid so I went back with her anyway and found a corner where I would be out of the way. Even so, the I was repeatedly asked to leave. I was trying not to be intrusive or difficult, it's just that my daughter was afraid and I wanted to at least be in the room with her to encourage and comfort her. It never occured to me that I wouldn't be allowed to.

This dentist and hygienists at this office are okay but customer service needs lots of work. The dentist did not explain my condition to me at all on my first visit --- he simply sent me up to the receptionist to set my next appointment with the hygienist after he was done evaluating my condition. Then when set my appointment, I had to set the appoint with the hygienist 4 months out because they only have one 2-3 days a week. Then it turned out that the hygienist who did my cleaning wasn't a very friendly person. She didn't talk to me about what I needed to do to maintain or make my condition better. I had to go to my friend who is a hygienist to do that. Also, the receptionist there isn't very nice. She was very sarcastic to me on the phone one day and didn't even send me my refund (b/c they overcharged me for some services) nor the medical expense report I needed. And when I call them during business hours, I usually get their voicemail and have to leave a message for them to call back before I can ever talk to them. This dentist is part of the network for my insurance so this is why I'm going to him. My coworker said he goes out of network and pays more because he gets better service and I think I may start doing that soon.
