My wife and I feel that Dr. Nevins' office manager lied by omission to gain our business. When my wife asked the office manager if Dr. Nevins accepts insurance, she informed us, "we take all insurance." We made our appointment based on this statement. In fact, Dr. Nevins is out of network for several insurance plans, including the Aetna HMO in which we participate. Our insurance denied coverage and my wife and I were faced with a $500 bill for basic care that would have cost us $80 at an in-network dentist.
Dr. Nevins' dental skills are excellent. My wife and I received cleanings and fillings, and we would both return. However, his office manager left us feeling cheated.

Dr. Nevins is the best. I HATE going to the dentist, but I actually look foward to my twice-yearly cleanings. Dr. Nevins has the BEST staff in DC, and I would never ever go anywhere else.

Dr. Nevins is one of the best dentists out there. Not only does he have a great staff and is really nice, you can guarantee that you won't be cheated into unnecessary procedures that dentists are becoming notorious for. I've moved away to Italy and still make sure to schedule an appointment any time I'm back in DC.

Dr. Nevins is a bit quirky but one of the best dentists I've ever had. Dentists can be pretty unscrupulous, but Nevins is a gem.

Incredibly friendly and explains all procedures. Took the time to converse with me and was very helpful. Unfortunately does not take most insurance.

I found Dr Nevins through research on Cosumers Checkbook and Washingtonian mag. Good advice. I needed temporary repair to my old dentures and a new set. Both were done quickly and at a lot less cost than I expected to pay. Desk staff helped me get reimbursement from insurance for some costs, as well. He explained each step to me, options and recommendations. A good choice, for sure.

i've never rated a physician in my life - my experience with nevins was terrible and has left other dentists shaking their heads.
first, he still uses metal fillings - ok whatever, you like what you like, but when i went home and essentially bit through the filling he put in because he didn't file it down and i had to go back (quickly, as you can imagine with no filling in the tooth), i was less than happy.
nevins then proceeded to drill it out without the use of novacaine, telling me i shouldn't feel any pain. i never feared dentists before, but i now understand what pain can be.
he does the cleanings himself, which you would think would be a good thing, but i found him ameteurish and i would not recommend him at all.
if you're going old school, maybe he would be ok, but take a shot of whiskey before you sit down and expect to see him again so he can fix his work.

The staff is super friendly. They make you feel like you're part of their family. If you have more than one plan they will help you figure out the most cost-efficient way for you. Dr Nevins is also very nice and patient when explaining any procedure or answering questions. I've been going to him for 2 years and I also had Zoom whitening with him (I didn't see much improvement from that, but then maybe my teeth just weren't that yellow for me to notice a difference). Overall, freat service and ambiance.

Very nice guy. Doesn't push procedures or make you feel too guilty about not flossing, etc. Uses nitrous oxide!
