The office staff is friendly and Dr Rempala is a good dentist in terms of his skill. I was willing to overlook additional fees based on the fact that they have a high-tech environment and a great location. I was disappointed , however, by Dr. Rempala's arrogant and condescending manner and felt sorry for his staff who tip toes around him. Despite his pretentiousness, I went ahead with the treatment I needed based on reviews of his work. The quote provided was for 6 veneers, with the understanding that 1-2 crowns may be needed at NO extra charge (his offer, not my request). I prepaid several thousand dollars for the treatment, then was given a receipt at my f/u appt, showing a balance due to me of nearly $2500. He had billed my insurance for 2 crowns I received despite having promised that they would be "no extra charge!" The office mgr (his wife) was never "available" to process my refund and it took nearly 2 mos of calling to finally talk to Dr. R directly. He was shameless & refused to give me the refund. Bacially he billed my ins. co for work I already paid him to complete!! After threatening to involve attorneys, he reluctantly refunded $1200. To make matters worse, one of my crowns is slipping after less than 2 yrs.

Dr. Rempala was audited by the DEA. He was found to be unable to account for 1,812 missing doses of several controlled medication. The DEA also determined he had prescribed two medications to a family member on three occasions in 2003 & 2005. Three months after being caught by the audit he filed a report of theft of controlled substances. In order to settle drug diversion allegations, he agreed to pay $70,000 & surrender his federal registration to dispense prescription drugs for five years. You can read the story here: http://stlouis.bizjournals.com/stlouis/stories/2006/05/15/daily62.html?t=printable It was durring the time the drugs went "missing" he performed my dental work. His hands shook the whole time & he looked as if he were on drugs. The Missouri Dental Board reveiewed my complaint against him but refused to hold him accountable for his actions. Many months ago, Dr. Rempala agreed to refund my $6,000 then squelched on that agreement. I recommend you stay as far away from Dr. Rempala as you can.

Frontenac dentist pulls out $70,000 federal settlement St. Louis Business Journal - May 19, 2006 Print this Article Email this Article Reprints RSS Feeds Most Viewed Most Emailed A Frontenac, Mo., dentist agreed to pay $70,000 to resolve prescription drug diversion allegations under the civil provisions of the Controlled Substances Act, U.S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway said Friday. Additionally, Jeffrey Rempala, 49, will surrender his federal registration to dispense prescription drugs for five years, according to a release. In the civil settlement agreement, the government said that during the Sept. 27 through Oct. 12 last year, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) conducted an audit of Rempala's purchases and dispensing of controlled substances at his dental practice on South Lindbergh Boulevard in Frontenac. The audit determined that Rempala was unable to account for a total of 1,812 missing dosage units of Hydrocodone, Vicodin, Diazepam, and Triazolam, according to the U.S. attorney's release. The DEA determined that Rempala had prescribed Vicodin and Percocet for a family member on three occasions in late 2003 and early 2005. On Jan. 30, Rempala's dental practice filed a DEA report of theft or loss of controlled substances form, which stated that 19 Vicodin pills were missing from the practice, with "employee pilferage" identified on the form as the "type of theft or loss," according to the release. The Controlled Substances Act requires doctors, dentists, and pharmacies to keep prescription drugs in a secure and safe manner and to maintain accurate and complete records regarding the drugs it purchases, dispenses, and distributes. Civil violations of the Controlled Substances Act can trigger monetary penalties of up to $10,000 per violation.

I went to see Dr. Rempala for a second opinion because my dentist wanted to drill several of my teeth. Dr. Rempala told me that these weren't cavities, they were just superficial and might take years to become cavities or may never become cavities if I continued to take good care of my teeth. He saved me a big expense and spared healthy teeth from being unnecessarily drilled. He's now my dentist. The only downside is that he's more expensive than many dentists. The good thing is that he won't perfom unnecessary procedures just to make money like many dentists do.

Dr. Rempala has done an excellent job of keeping my teeth and gums healthy. The crowns he did are perfect. There is little or no pain and his chair-side manner is wonderful when he is working. The hygienist and front desk employees are very nice and helpful.
