Originally we signed up to work with Dr. Avokoff which he only ended up working on my daughter for about 1 or 2 times before he left and his assistant took over. He was very nice, funny and easy to work with. However, his front office manager (Virginia) is a very rude, and arrogant woman. She is not professional AT ALL! Not only does she not return calls (even if a bracket has fallen off and we need to be seen asap) And when you do finally get a a hold of her she does not get you in right away. She seems to feel that she is all powerful and mighty and that we are below her. My insurance was changed in the middle of treatment and instead of honoring our original contract she started a new one and bumped the price up DOUBLE! When telling her it was unforseen that the insurance was going to change and that I would have never signed up for a deal like that she proceeded to tell me that wasnt her problem and that I agreed to and signed the contract. She has no sympathy or concern for the patients at all. I then talked to another Ortho and they said that standard procedure is you honor the original contract and the patient would have to pay all fees that were not covered by the insurance. Which I agree and would comply. But there is no need for them to go and change the contract in the middle of treatment and then say instead of the treatment costing $2400 it is now $5000!! There are so many other orthodontists out there that actually care, do not go here you will have nothing but heartache!

The front office staff /manager was the biggest problem for us. The Dr. was vague in his description of treatment. We went back to the Dr. knowing he was a little to understand. By then the office staff had changed and our communication started breaking down.

OK. So I had my braces on for 3 years. Throughout the treatment, I have to say I went through a lot with this office. There were a couple times where I decided I should change doctor but I didn't have the time to do research plus I didn't want to spend more money until I know it was truly necessary. The doctor is forgetfull and unattentive. He had to be reminded everytime I came in on things that were of concerned. Then billings got confusing because I've never got the black and white on what's due and what's owed. I guess it was partly my fault for not asking the right questions. Toward the end of treatment, doctor got very nervous because my x-ray results were showing I have multiple root resorptions. After a series of back and forth between the ortho, my dentist, and myself, we decided it was best to stop treatment. I now have two gaps on lower teeth, 1 unfixed crooked molar, and multiple root resorptions.

Dr. Avakoff is kind and fair. His front office staff is disorganized and not very friendly.

I have been through the study but have not received my braces yet. Dr Avakoff is very supportive and very honest. He was very upfront with the possible non-success I may see do to my small mouth and excessive crowding. He did not try to sell me anything, but was very clear and truthful. This was invaluable. After two months of considering, I have decided to accept the risk of poor results, but I really appreciate knowing this going in, so I will not be extremely disappointed if the results are less than perfect. Thank you Dr Avakoff.

My wife took my step daughter into Dr Avakoff's office. Dr Avakoff was a very nice person and my wife liked him. When she called back to get some information the receptionist was rude and abusive. My wife asked a dentist from our primary dentist office to call to get the information they needed from Dr Avakoff's office and they received the same treatment. This receptionist/office manager was yelling at my wife and the other dentist. She refused to let us speak to Dr Avakoff and Dr Avakoff never returned any messages from my wife, the other dentis or me. This place is a nightmare to deal with. We never did get the information we needed and had to go to a different orthodontist.

I've been visiting the office about once a month for the past 6 months, and they still can't remember my name. Everytime I came in, I have to remind the doctor of my case or his concerns about my case. I had to remind him to send the letter to my general dentist to check up on me, 3 times (3 visits).
Customer service is OK, the nurses/assistants are friendly, but I wouldn't say they are personable.
So far, I can't tell the treatment success yet since I'm only in my 6th month treatment, but havent' seen much progress yet since the doctor can't even decide which teeth to pull...

Dr. Avakoff is the BEST!!!!!! He took care of all of my 3 Boys!!!! All of there teeth are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! They get compliments of their smiles all the time!!!! THANKS DR AVAKOFF!!!!!!! Your the BEST!!!!!

Dr. Avakoff makes every visit a good time. He is extremely funny, upbeat, and optimistic. He always found a way to fit me in whenever I broke a bracket, and his assistants are very sweet. He even removed my top braces for the weekend of my prom so that I wouldn't have them for the pictures and then put them back on the week after! My treatment went very well and I was able to remove my braces a few weeks before the estimated date. Dr. Avakoff went above and beyond what most people can expect from an orthodontist. While I had my braces, I do not recall ever having extreme pain - and my teeth were very crooked. He also accepted my family's insurance plan when most others would not.

Very pleasant and very good with children. Treatment is not complete yet, so I cannot rate that part until later on. So far so good though!!!
