I called yesterday to schedule an appointment for my 13 years old son, I'm a single mom and work a business schedule so I needed to have an idea how long a extraction will take & the lady said it can take the DR a day to complete an extraction!! I was stunned when she said, so I decided to go a different route, there is no way I will put my child through this.
I was able to find a different surgeon where an extraction will only take 1 or 2 hrs the most, so I really have to question experience and service procedure. So if this is your case, be prepare to spend a complete day and put your child through a long day.

While having my procedure done, I was told that my dental insurance would cover 80% of the total $900 cost. I was told they would also bill my health insurance to try & get partial payment from them as well. After explaining this, she asked that I pay $200. I disagreed, as that was more than the 20% I would owe, even w/o billing my health insurance. She then asked that I pay $100, & if a balance was due, I would be invoiced. The procedure took 20 mins.
Over a month went by, when I received a bill for $600. I called & was told that the bill was in error, & was simply a matter of my dental ins not yet sending payment. She stated my health ins had paid about $60 towards the claim. Upon hearing this, I expected I would at some point receive a bill for about $40.
Another month went by. I received nothing else. I called & spoke with the same woman, explaining I wanted to confirm insurance had paid. She checked and said 'Looks good to me, nothing is due!'. Imagine my surprise when the following week I received a bill for $400! I spoke this time with Mike, the business mgr, who oops! forgot to deduct $300 in insurance payments. He sent a revised invoice. And a letter threatening to send me to collection for my past due account. Unreal.

Dr Sclaroff was FANTASTIC. He figured out my problem within 5 minutes, scheduled surgery & fixed my jaw problem with a few weeks. I had a mandibul osteotomy (plates iin my lower jaw) done. He made sure my pain was well controlled &I I have never had any complications. He & the staff worked everything out with my insurance. His staff was wonderful & very caring.Dr Sclaroff was wonderful &very I would definitely recommend him to anyone!! My case was a rather difficult one to take on& he had no trouble with taking it on. I can't put into words how grateful I am to him &I his staff!!

I had 4 wisdom teeth taken out and it took 15 minutes. I no longer have the grinding of my wisdom teeth on my molars and no longer have the horrible migraines caused by the grinding. Insurance covered everything and the Dr. was great and helpful

EXCELLENT- THE BEST!!
Dr. Allen Sclaroff was EXCELLENT!
My comfort was #1!
I couldn't believe it!
He was considerate and I didn't feel a thing having 4 wisdom teeth extracted!
It was quick, painless ( of course I was asleep ) but going on day 3 and I'm almost healed already!
The holes are almost closed.
This shows how good he is by my rate in healing.
I highly suggest him and taking my daughter who has down syndrome to him.
They have other patients with disabilities and have wonderful success with them.
I don't trust many doctors with my daughter but after having a major procedure done with him.
I'm absolutely bringing her to him!
5 ***** stars for Doctor Sclaroff!
At last a Doctor I had a pleasant experience with.

The office was generic, but clean, the staff did their jobs. They were not overly friendly nor were they rude. The Dr. was nice, and his bedside manor was great. I am the Mother of the Pt. The procedure was painful of course,( all four wisdom teeth removed) however he did give her a script for pain meds, and when she was sick d/t a reaction to the antibiotic, he called her in something quickly. The surgical assistants were very kind. We did wait in the waiting rm for about 25 minutes, but once we got back in the room for the procedure, the Dr. came in behind us, and when my daughter got anxious, he gave her iv medication for it. She had nitriousoxide, and when she was under; she was nervous they knew this because they had hooked her up to the monitor and her heart rate went up, so he treated her. I thought this was great because I am a nurse ( not affiliated with Barnes) and I have seen Dr.s ignore Pt's signs and symptoms of anxiety. this Dr. chooses to treat his Pt's and I thought that was wonderful. I guess I chaulk it up too, He could just ignore it and say well they are knocked out what difference does it make, He didn't do that. So, with that I believe our experience, no matter how painful, it was very good!

Dr. Sclaroff is top notch, however his administrative staff is horrendous. If you don't expect any complication with insurance, I would highly recommend his abilities as a surgeon. However, if you are faced with a more challenging procedure and may need to obtain pre-approval from your healthcare provider; know that you are on your own.
If you need any additional information (copies of x-rays, procedure pictures, etc) his staff is painfully slow, and at times downright rude.
In retrospect, I would still select him for his skill; after all quality of his work is what matters. However, I would probably take pain killers before dealing with his staff. (For the record, I was extremely nice to the staff when making request; it just seems that they are not used to handling anything more than scheduling appointments - and they even messed that up once)
